When I purchased my tires 2 months ago discount tire had them listed at 320 a piece. I had the tires priced matched guarantee through the Ford dealership I work at and with an additional 15% off and no tax

Edit: 4wp had these tires at 320 back then as well. Now they are listed at 272 with a additional 80 dollar rebate..that's great!

 

what do you think of these vs the hankook mt ?

I'm on MT/Rs and my friend his on hanstuck MTs.

 

Honestly I think the Hankooks are better handling overall with a huge exception that kills it. Each set I had lasted me 15-18,000 miles before the tread wore to less then a 25%. And that for me was once a year

Edit: if my taco was not a DD then I would be on the Hankooks for sure

 

I would have to disagree, but to each their own. My MT/Rs handle great on the street in dry and wet weather and they hook up in the dirt and on rocks. Best tire I've ran. My buddy who has the hankook MT's lost traction a lot on Pilot rock and had to try different lines while I never lost forward momentum. MT/Rs just hook up.

 

Honestly there's a lot of personal and vehicle differences in this though. Ran the same trails as Slimwood Shady on MT/R's this past weekend and some sections he had to work and I didn't and vice versa.

 

I agree with you there. However I've been hearing from first hand information the Hankook MTs don't last long and are difficult to balance. Somebody else on here said it too. I've ran a lot of brands and the MT/Rs just happen to fit my preference. I've heard Toyos are great just don't care for the weight of them, otherwise I would give them a try.

Guessing it's one of those "looks tougher than it really is" sort of trails?

 

Dean's last weekend in SoCal Pilot Rock trail run on April 27th.

We can meet at the Chevron just off of Hwy 15 and Hwy 138, it's visible from the freeway.

Just need to lock in a meet time. I'm 45 minutes away SW in Chino Hills, so whenever is good for me.

 

Sounds good to me. How long does the trail normally take?

 

Depends, I've ran it solo non stop in about 2 hours and that was no stops and me speeding through the flat areas. More trucks will make it longer. Last time I ran it with Bryant we started at 1300 and got off the trail just as the sun was starting to set, with a half hour stop somewhere in there. Lots of places to take photos so that adds some time. If it goes too fast Dish Pan is in the area, just don't recall how to get to it.

 

Totally Jelly! Hard to find decent places to wheel in Texas as pretty much the entire state is private property.
