Good luck OP, I have always had good luck with USAA.

I called them a few months ago to check my coverage. They told me that I would be covered off roading. Also, that they would cover any aftermarket things on attached to the truck (radio, ham radios, bumpers, sliders, etc) up to $5k. Anything over $5k would require a special rider and inspection.

Every plan and every state required coverage is different, so I hope you are covered.

Start getting all your receipts together to show what the aftermarket stuff is worth. If you bought off of TW or an private sales, make a invoice with as much information as you can. You can always appeal the adjuster's report. I know a few guys on here have posted about being low balled on the value and after doing some research about the local market value of their truck, have gotten a little bit more.

A little time preparing and doing some research could ultimately pay off.

Doesn't look like they can get much more info than I already gave them. They know the location, they know it was not on the streets, they know it was muddy water that got inside the can and likely the engine.

Would a snorkel really have helped? The ecu still would get wet right?

Good luck op! Hope all turns out well for ya.

Still not 100% it was the ECU. It probably was, but can't say for certain.

    Thanks.

The snorkel will keep the water out of the engine not the ECU. Water inside an engine is a bad, bad thing. Especially if it gets inside while it's running.

Won't all the electronics on the engine bay still fry with a snorkel? Alternator, fuse box, battery, etc

Until you sign something, YOU still own it. Don't let them tell you anything different. Again, no matter how nice, or how much the adjuster tries to be your friend, they work for the insurance company, not you, your best interest is not the adjuster's priority. Your best defense is to be informed; about your policy, your coverage, and the documented cost of your parts. Not a time to be a lemming. :D

I looked into this with my insurance company before I added all my mods.

They're willing to cover all my mods as long as I have an expense report showing the value and where it all came from.

Of course, my price of insurance went up.

    I didnt mind one bit.

I'm sure I missed it, but did you not take it to the dealer to get a diagnosis?
