I normally do as much pre prep as I can. I'll pre dice onions and peppers for eggs or taco's and pre cook and chop bacon to put in breakfast burro's or taco's. I'll pre cook and then chop chicken, steak, pollo asado, carne asada and then either put the stuff into separate ziplock freezer bags and freeze them, or seal them up separately in a food saver bag. I'll pre-make pasta sauce with spicy sausage, garlic, and onions and then put it in a food saver bag and freeze it, then all you gotta do at camp is plop it still in the bag into a boiling pot of water and cook your pasta. Have pre made jalapeno ranch burgers to cook over the fire, pre seasoned steaks to grill....there are endless options. I try and make it at easy as possible for me when out in the woods.

Just got a camp oven so now I'm looking forward to some cinnamon rolls for breakfast, pizza, baked jalapeno poppers......damn now I'm hungry :D

    Trailer is definitely cool!

Brats are fun when drinking around the campfire but I actually like to cook outdoors. I bring a small propane grill for meats as it's easier to control the flame and you can keep it covered.... bugs off the meat.

The Coleman 2 burner stove is my best friend, I cook everything you can cook at home on that thing, fried chicken, spaghetti, eggs, bacon, anything for breakfast, grilled cheese sammich, soups...I could go on for an entire novel.

You just got to learn to love to cook. :D

But when I'm hunting I like quick and easy, Chunky soups are fast and filling if supplemented with a sandwich. Sometimes freeze dried food but that will get expensive, usually reserved for backpacking.
Pre-mix your own tuna fish and that's nice and easy as well as good for you.

Pre-make your own fajitas fixings at home, put the mix in a food saver bag that sucks the air out. When camping drop the bag in boiling water and heat it up. Open and slather on your tortilla that you heated over the steaming water. :hungry:

This works well with other stuff too, just giving an idea. Pasta and sauce does well with this method too.

Edit: Jason apparently thinks along the same lines as me.

Took me long enough to find this thread. Damn. And jason knows what he is talking about. Its craxy to see how efficient and clean his entire set up is. I have learned a lot from camping with him.

Temp looks ot be ~40 degrees up at paradise during the day which isnt bad. I know they do snowshoe tours with the rangers but youd have to call to get more info. Its a pretty long drive just for too look...and there isnt much to do. But then again i live here so been there a ton of times lol.

Guess im in weird but i just dont count that as camping. I go out to get away from that sort of stuff. Even when truck camping the only electronics that come are my kindle and cell phone (for emergencies). I like the peace and quiet, relaxing by a fire while reading, type camping over going inside your trailer and having a bar and tv to watch.

As for food kinda just depends for me. if its hiking then its usually freeze dried. When truck camping just depends. if having a fire i like to do foil meal type things. Get some ground beef, chunks of potatoes, and carrots, mix em all together, then pour a can of cream of mushroom soup and mix a bit. Wrap in 2-3 layers of foil and put by the fire. Give it a good 15 minutes (depends how hot fire is) and check. once the beef is cooked its done. Simple and yummy.

You must be new here :D I was being a smart ass...but I do have a portable DVD player that I take along for rainy days when I could be stuck in the tent and not get any campfire time. And I got a Kindle last year but I still bring paperbacks camping.

I am also a fan of tin foil camp meals. While I always have my camp stove and pots/pans with me I don't always have the ability to wash dishes....bear country rules say that tenters need to strain any food bits out of the wash water and then dispose of the water away from camp, etc. Too much of a hassle. I cook in tin foil and have zero clean up - just crumple up the foil, double bag it and dump it in the first trash can I see.

I eat just as good out camping as I do at home!

I do a taco soup. I shred a full chicken into a bag before going then its just canned beans some corn and jalapeno peppers diced from a can. Just thro that into a pot and let it cook till hot. Clean up is usually just washing out the pot. I have never had any left overs of it. Very easy meal all around and easy ish clean up.

Wasnt really directed at you...more just a general preference and happened to quote you. I live in WA so rain doesnt stop me! TO be fair i tend to do a lot more backpacking that car/truck camping these days so a kindle is perfect. Lets me bring magazines, books, music, and games for when it is rainy and im at camp. And it slight enough and small enough to not take up to much room. THough most of my adventures usually start out with driving to the trail head and sleeping in my truck
