What's up guys. I am getting ready to purchase a set of OME shocks with 885 coils and from what I have seen on other threads I would roughly gain 2.5 inches of lift in the front. I was told from a vendor that in order to get the full 3 inch lift I would need to purchase a 1/2 inch top plate spacer. I was just curious if you guys had any experience/opinions with top plate spacers and if its worth installing or leaving the lift without. If they are worth installing any brands or kinds of material better than others?

Also since my truck was just recently purchased new can I get by with just buying a 2 inch AAL rather than replacing my current leaf springs with dakars or some other kind of complete set in order to gain the same amount of lift in the rear.

Just for info purposes, I do very little towing and offroading. The lift kit is mainly for the cool factor. HaHa.

Thanks in advance for the input.

I went with this kit and did the progressive 3 leaf pack AAL from Toytec. Many here run the spacers to get the full 3" of lift. I got the extended shock mount studs so that I can do the spacers later but did not go with them for now so that I could still use my stock ucas. At 3" of lift, you will definitely want aftermarket (Light Racing) ucas.

Regardless of whether I go with the spacer or not I will be purchasing aftermarket UCAs. I'm new to the whole lifting idea so maybe I'm thinking about this wrong but I was under the impression that by using a top plate spacer I would be preloading the coil and I had read somewhere that OME coils should not be preloading.

I'm new here and to lifting also. I was thinking of getting the same setup within the next few months. From what I've been reading in other threads is that to get the extra 1/2 inch lift from the OME kit all you need is 1/4 inch spacers. Also that the top plate spacer sits on top of the coilover assembly, it doesn't preload the coil. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will comment on this.

I've seen a couple of guys reference the newer 887 springs from OME on TW. Not sure where they are getting them. They are supposed to have the same rate as 885s, but longer to give a full 3".

I ran 885s alone for a while, and then put on the 1/4" spacer to get closer to 3" and leveled out. No complaints.

Wheelers Offroad sells a heavy duty 3-leaf AAL now. Wasn't available when I bought my lift.
