I gotta admit, I love seeing trail bikes compete with the DH sleds on a UCI Worldcup level.

 

The trek x-caliber is under 1500. It's a 29er. I sold all of my crazy expensive bikes and bought a trek wahoo 29er when my daughter was born. I told my wife I'll upgrade components as I break them. I have yet to break them and I ride it pretty hard. Makes me think all those years I had 3-4 bikes at a time at prices around 3-6k. And now I'm rocking a bike I think I paid $700 for and I'm beating the hell out of it and it's taking it. I do how ever want to upgrade the brakes.

 

I went over to Trail Head Cyclery yesterday to check some stuff out and was looking at bikes. It's amazing how the high end went from two grand to six grand. I don't even have a carbon frame and my Nomad was up there (or so I thought). They even had a couple of demo bikes in the six grand range.

It's crazy how much stuff has gone up in price-grips for $20 (no locks, just the grips). And you'd think the market was saturated and that would drive the price of a good flat pedal down...nope, still $150.

 

Yeah it's not going to stop any time soon. Pro deals are the only thing keeping me into my hobbies. With out those I'd be screwed.

Got it on sale since it was last years model and Mil discount. My LBS was really helpful. I test rode this one and a Fuji Tahoe 27.5 to see that all the rage was. It was a hard decision to make but the Scott come with better goodies.

so who was out at sea otter? i was there from wed-sunday and it was a blast this year! think it was my 5th year camping there in campground H, ended up 6th in CAT 1 pretty happy with that lost by less than a second i think, have a few photos anyone who was there probably remembers us we had all the flags, signs and of course our big metal velociraptor! we made it into all the pink bike videos and even in bike mag! lol

I just did this mod this morning.

 

Here's my 2014 Trek Fuel EX 29'er, I mostly ride mission trails in San Diego.

 

Hopefully this summer my frame will crack and I'll be forced to get a newer Santa Cruz or Intense. Probably not going to happen though, this VP Free that I have is pretty tuff.
