    Realized that my truck hates 87 octane, stopped to fill her up and the station was out of 93 which is what I always use so I had to settle for 87. Now my truck is pinging like crazy once it shifts into the last gear and i go to give it any more gas. Guess I will have to live with my truck sounding like crap until i use up this tank. Im really surprised it pings this bad on 87 being a 12' and only 29k miles.

    It is! I'm shocked at how bad it is pinging, if i have the ac on and make a turn it gets even worse. The wife heard it yesterday while we were out and was like wth? The truck didn't do this until i filled her up with the 87 so either i got some bad gas or the fact that i have always run 93 the ECM is not able to compensate for running 87 now:notsure:

    It's the winter-blend. Mine started doing the same thing last fall. So I've been using a medium octane - no pinging. I just filled up with 87 last week - pinging.

    In about another month or so, we'll be back to summer-blends.
