I'll be down there in June to mountain bike it. :) a little in fruita and the Loma then prolly that trail for a little. With my runner following, then load up once I've had enough and head to lake Powell.

I'm really interested in seeing what you come up with using square tube. I think square tube is fine. It's all personal preference. I did all sheet metal for front and rear bumpers. Are you stick or mig welding?

Stick welding. My brother did the majority of the welds on my sliders but I will do quite a bit more on this project.

Its not looking good for the noco trails this year. Moody hill is closed for the year. Kelly flats and 7 mile are not going to be reopened during the club cleanup as planned. They are still under review by fs.
St. Vrain and Coney Flats should be open end of May but this is not certain.
I'm on my cell phone I'll go back into more detail when I get to a keyboard,...

Oh damn. I still have not done some of those. That sucks. Is this due to the flooding last year?

There is rumour that left hand canyon or parts of it will remain closed until 2016

I am so bummed about moody hill. I have been trying to get the Denver guys up for that one for the last couple summers and I vowed that this would be the year. Looks like my plan is foiled again.

I would not be surprised if the tree huggers try to use flooding as an excuse to permanently close a lot of trails... I know there are definitely those who would prefer no motorized vehicles anywhere in the mountains.

I think most of the "hard stuff" in the video was actually Top of the World trail and not part of the kok. I did TOTW last spring in an LR4 right of the showroom floor. The ledges are getting bigger and bigger and after the snow/runoff this year I bet it will be even more washed out.

No kidding I'm going to turn my atv into an amphibious vehicle using a ratchet strap and some arm floaties. :)

So far this is all the information that has been released, the FS is being a bit cagey in getting back to us. Our cleanup for Kelly Flats and 7 mile is scheduled for May 10-11th and we asked point blank what was happening and are being told there is still a review in process which means nothing is happening but paper pushing. So for now we are unsure if we are doing anything.

Now here is the part that makes me see red.

The people doing these reviews have never seen the trails before the floods.

They see obstacles, rock undercuts, exposed roots in the trail and are assuming this is from flood damage.

I was unaware of this but a few members of the club actually ran 7 mile the weekend after the flood and took pics. There is virtually no change from before the flood. But 7 mile is criss-crossed by a creek a couple dozen times so to the first timer it looks like flood damage. Especially this time of year when the trail is normally closed anyway due to runoff. They just happen to be looking at it at it's worst.

So we have before and after pics of this trail and this may help our case.

Kelly Flats is going to be a battle regardless of flood damage due to the homeowners in the middle of the rail, long story, they want the trail closed anyway...

We are attempting to get a FS rep to attend next months meeting so we can hopefully get some answers.

Now the upper trails, the Deadman area should be open, I was up there during and after the flood and there is 0 damage. Green Ridge should still be open later in the summer but it may also be closed without warning due to beetle kill mitigation. This is separate from the flood damage and nothing can be done about it.
The road to Long Draw reservoir is still closed for beetle kill mitigation with no date to reopen at this time.
