Swept my chimney this past weekend.

A LOT more creosote than I like to see in my chimney.
I had to burn some unseasoned wood during March because I had run out of the seasoned stuff from it being such a cold winter. I was dosing it pretty heavy with that Creosote destroyer stuff, so there wasn't much stuck on the flue walls (most of it had already dried out and flaked off on its own), but still...
A good reminder of why I hate burning unseasoned wood.

Well you can sleep easy now without worrying about a chimney fire, good catch! This winter is going to leave a lot of people with dirty chimneys and liners....I don't know anyone who had enough wood stocked up to make it to the warmer months.

Yeah, there's been a lot of chimney fires around here this winter. I usually sweep mine out every fall before we start burning, but where I was burning unseasoned stuff (I split it in October, so it's not green, but it's definitely not seasoned yet either!) I was nervous about it so I swept it early this year.

Fucking pilot bit for the easy out broke off. Went and exchanged it. Drilled a hole. Went to use easy out. Drill won't spin it, no torque, so I go to use the handle, wrong size. Go to the store again and got a different handle. Came back it's just BARELY too big. Get the right size handle AND NOW I NEED A FUCKING EASY OUT TO GET MY EASY OUT OUT BECAUSE IT SHEERED OFF!!!!

Cant easy out an easy out. and its a bitch to drill them out. Know anyone with a torch. You will probably have to torch it and drill a bigger hole.

Fuck it I'm drilling through to the other side of the cross member and getting longer bolts. I'll sandwich the crossmember. Fuck it all.

On a side note; A change of pace from brewing beer:
I brewed up a batch of cream soda! Turned out so good, I'm going to start a batch of cola and a batch of root beer this weekend.

Yeah they are 1/4" aluminum skids from Ricochet. Pretty beefy but I guess they don't offer a standalone version in aluminum.. :notsure: I got em for free, so I'm not complaining :)

When they're installed, there will be pictures :brianr:

This weekend, the new tails are going on and I'm semi-de-badging (getting rid of the silver 4x4 on the box). The truck is coming along, so far I'm happy with how it looks.
