If I thought people were proud of THAT I would be all for it... but the typical Texan I meet are proud that they're from the land north of Mexico and south of Oklahoma... nothing to do with the stand their ancestors took.

and I agree... Oregon is very much the same way... well in the Portland Area... at least

True... I had an ex in Missoula... and while very pretty, not much going on there... oh... Montana was the same ;)

Hmmm... I guess that hasn't been my experience in my visits to the various cities & rural areas of Texas. In fact, it was one of the reasons I was considering a move to Texas at one point.

well that's part of the issue... when I've been in Texas it was durring training so didn't "mingle" much... my experience has been with Texans in the military or who've moved away... mostly military.

My family still has the papers signed by Grover Cleveland that deeded the land that my family homesteaded to us during the land grab of the 1800's. And I am 1/4 native american. You don't get much more native than that. And I am proud no matter what. Lucky, yes, that too. I moved to Oregon just so that I could say that I have experienced living somewhere else and to help me understand why I am lucky and proud to be here. But Oregon was pretty awesome too, love the PNW

How you liking the trails in AK? most of the ones I went were up near Peatersville... and could hardly be considerd trails... more like... a way through :D

but the trails at Kinik and by Palmer were pretty fun... though only ran them a couple times.

AK4x4.net was the local forum if I remember correctly (which I probably don't)
