It has an engine... Happens to be brand new off the factory floor, not a rebuilt or used dealio. Needs broken in... Has an auto trans with OD built by culhane slapped in behind the engine thingy too with some cool billlet stuff on it as well.

These are my 05+ 4wd spindles with Solo Motorsports gusset kit that I just got in the mail. Its not a compact gusset by any means but they swear by it so we will see how it goes.

Offer it to him and see what he says. It's a good truck. I've got no motivation behind talking good or bad about it at this point cause I don't own it anymore. It's noisy, squeeks, creaks, clanks, clunks, etc... But it works pretty damn good! If he hasn't done anything the front end could use a double stack of 20s on the compression and the rear rebound could be lightened up a tad to allow it to droop out a bit more. The weak link on the truck imo is the front spindles. Build up some using a D35 or D44 hub assembly and it should be a pretty bomb proof setup. It could probably use a full tear down and prep also but really it's good to go as is too. The current owner is daily driving it to give you an idea... It's bare minimum, no creature comforts or anything like that.

Depends. What speed? Stock motor? Size tires? What gear ratio? How long do they need to last?

If money is no object I would say BFG Baja's would be a good off the shelf bet, but would not be competitive against a custom cut short course tires. Problem with those is they don't last long, but they are sticky.

If those are out of your price range I have had good luck with Nitto Trail Grapplers, BFG All Terrains, and surplus military tires.

Nope, good tires. So good that when they wore out I bought a second set. I run them on a 2500HD and got almost 50K miles out of them. The only minor complaint is that they pick up gravel in the tread, but if you go fast enough they fling out pretty easy. Perform fantastic on gravel/dirt, and do pretty good in the snow.

Offer him 5k, and only if he hucks the front suspension into the ocean. That's a zzr/zip Locke kit. It's like 900 bucks, and complete dog shit. Good looking truck, but 9 grand better get you 2x the truck.
