I'm looking into buying a 2003 extracab. It's in really nice shape and has the TRD package. But my concern is that I'm too tall. I'm 6'7" and about 300lbs. I currently drive a 95 Chevy regular cab 1500. I fit fine in that. I looked at the interior specs and they are actually similar to the Chevy except for width (to be expected) thanks for any input.

Depends, will you be spending much time behind the wheel? I highly doubt you will be comfortable in a Tacoma if you were the driver for any length of time.

Normally not very long periods of time. Except for a 8 hour drive to and from school a few times. I fit in a Dodge Dakota if for example. I'm not sure which is bigger though.

Is a double cab bigger? There's one for sale that is nice too but it has 219000 miles. How long do these generally last? Assuming they are taken care of?

I've been reading non stop since this morning. It seems like opinions are all over. So far I've learned that the 1st gens are a tad smaller than the newer ones. I guess the only way to know is to try. I'm hoping i fit well because just by reading I have so many ideas of stuff I could do haha.

Why dont you go down and test drive one? :notsure:

Seems like the reasonable thing to do.

What's your inseam? I know a guy who's 6'3" with a 31" inseam (all torso) and he fits fine.
Another friend is 6'4" with long legs and he's all folded up with the passenger seat all the way back.

if i were you i would get in there and size it out specially the seat's width, depth, elbow on window etc..then drive it around the block and get the feel of everything. key is: your comfort :D

My inseam is 34. The only reason I haven't driven it yet is because its about and hour drive away from me. I'm not sure if a double cab would offer more room or not. Would it?

It will be a bit of culture shock for you. The question is can you adjust easily. The seats are pretty comfy, hold up incredibly well and adjust nice. Cupholder is close, climate controls are close. OEM is a quite ride. Not as wide as a Chevy, no doubt. Several advantages to that as far as drivability.

6'4",,been rockin the SR5 bigger cabs for years. You'll learn the bang-the-nugget clearance on the door frame real fast.:D

The only thing I hate about the seats is the the metal bar in the back of the bottom cushion pushes against my lower pelvis unless I slouch forward a bit, when I am driving aggresively I like to sit upright and my butt all the way back, thats when it pushes on my me.

I have a 60/40 split bench seat so I can't say that I have bounced off that bar. There is one there,,just not as big as I would think to hit your butt bone.

I just had both out this weekend and machine washed up the Wet Okole seat covers after about 4 years of use. Took a pick and peek at the seat foam underneath,,still in really good shape. Lubed up the sliders, clean covers back on, away we go.

I have buckets in an extra cab and my inseam is 34.5 and i'm 6'1" 205 lbs. Getting in i have to bend my right leg sideways in and under the wheel then set my butt up on the seat. when i'm in my seat is all the way back and wheel is tilted to the second to highest notch. on long drives i set the cruise and extend my toes in between the clutch and brake to extend my legs a little. still cramped but i like a tight feeling in the cab.wish i had racing seats with a five point. 300 lbs you will be up tight against that door. I had a 94 dakota extra cab and it was a lot bigger then my taco. i slept in that some nights. my tacoma would be tough.

I'm 6'2" and about 190. I own a double cab and extended cab. They are the same really.

Have done many many long trips in both. Totally fine.

I'm shy of 6'8" but not by much. I just made a 8 hr round trip in my 06 DC. I'm fine in there. My buddy's first gen is rather snug. He's 6'3ish and we rub shoulders whenever we ride in his truck but not in mine.

    Hope this helps.

I'm 6' 5" 280#. I have a 2014 DC. The cab feels a little small for my size but living in Hawaii we don't do any long distance traveling. The first gen cabs are definitely smaller than the second gen cabs. If your stuck on getting a Tacoma I would suggest getting a second gen for the roomier cab.
