Kris, sorry about your truck. You are handling all of this a lot better than I would without doubt. I wish I would have stumbled on to this thread before I did this today

The water was flowing around the bridge in my signature ... My wife was unhappy with me driving through the water but a guy in a large chevy had just driven through it so I had to also... Right ?

You either misunderstood or I wrote it wrong. I'll get a check for fair market value (22k) MINUS salvage value, which they haven't told me yet. And then I get my truck.

HAHA ok makes sense now so truck value is 22 and if salvage is 12 then you get the truck and 10 grand to make it more badass

Or take that 10k, buy another Tacoma and begin to part out my old one, which will have a totaled title, then once I get as much as I can out of it, sell it to a salvage yard.

Maybe, but there are two problems with that. First, the title will be for a totaled vehicle and I'll never be able to sell it let alone get it insured. Second, the water damage will be an ongoing issue for the rest of the vehicles life. Not something I want to worry about.

Curious how difficult it is to make it a salvage title.

It becomes one, I think. Each state has different laws on what you have to do. Not sure about FL. Probably just costs a titling fee at the DMV.

Not particular on year. My criteria is an access cab with rear lockers. I had the offroad package that had all the options including downhill assist, SCA Off, A-trac and all that but the only thing I ever used was 4WD and my rear locker. Makes the vehicle cheaper and have fewer components that can get messed up.
