HAHA I was wondering if anyone would bring that point up about the S/C! However, I have mixed feelings about the S/C lowering my gas.... from what I have read, here and other sites, the supercharger can help with gas if used right..... I thought someone would bring it up, but i figured it would be about which is better to drive with a S/C and not gas. The gas thing is just a thing between my wife and I....(who's right and who's wrong sort of thing)

I have always heard than manual gets better in the city because you dont have the truck in gear ALL THE TIME!!! I have lived in Japan the past two years where the highest speed limit is 80kph (49.7) so, i have a habit of driving conservative:D

Anyways, thanks for all of the post.... pretty sure i will still get a manual (its what i learned on) but we shall see.....PLUS, its about $800 cheaper to get a man than an auto! Thats two whole payments:eek:

I purchased the '02 with an auto because I shifted ( not now;) ) all day long in the "Mack Office"....The mileage difference between my '99 5 spd and the '02 are minimal at best ( plus the auto with the 4 banga CAN NOT spin 'em like the 5 did;):D)..
I swapped up into a newer Mack with the Allison 6 spd automatic and get the same mpg's ( If I keep my foot out of it) with a bigger motor;427-v-400.....I do a 1000 plus miles a week so sitting in traffic or off road I've learned to enjoy the simplicity of no 3rd pedal:cool::D:cool:.

We have the 6 speed alison with an 11L cummins at work, funny watching people think they can pass a truck just to do it then find the merge long gone and they are still in back:D

Getting stuck in Houston traffic every day with a manual would suck and be quite annoying, so I had to go with the automatic, and I was surprised how much I actually like it over my old ford transmission!

I love the manual 6-speed. Hands down I have no complaints at all about it. I've only got around 900 miles on my Tacoma so I haven't checked the mileage on it.

The truck I wanted was sitting on the lot, it has a stick. If it had an auto I still would have bought it. So if less and less people are able to drive a stick does that mean less people are able to steal my truck?

Same boat - wife can't drive a standard..but I am quite happy with the auto - less work for me! I have keep both hands on the steering wheel and don't have to worry about stopping on hills and having idiots pull up behind you so close that you could barely fit a piece of paper between bumpers.

    Go for the auto.

Hated my 6spd manual and traded it for an auto as well. Haven't looked back since, the 6spd manual in the Tacoma really sucks. Search my previous posts for more details if you're interested. Another added benefit, I went from an access cab in the manual to a double cab in the auto and I still get better gas mileage with the auto and larger cab!

My parents wanted me to learn how to drive a manual and wanted my first car to be a manual, now its the only thing i want to drive, driving a auto is no fun to me anymore cause i just think how fun it would be in a manual especially my mom's 08 G35

What your dad does in his private life is of no interest to me, but you can tell your mom to shoot me a PM.

Not going to happen, ok back to the thread, Manual's are for people who like driving, auto's are for people who think driving is a chore or who commute to a big city or on steep hills all the time.
