Oregon and Washington BS thread

Hey cody, my wife's 2000 jetta is having some issues. care to help me work on it? misfire on 1 cylinder pretty frequently, random cylinder misfire occasionally, thermostat isn't working. t-stat has been replaced a couple times, coil has been replaced a couple times, new plug wires, new plugs. i suspect that the insulation on a couple of the wires is worn through and when they rub right, it is shorting the signal for the spark plugs through the thermostat.

 

Man. If I never opened a jetta hood again I wouldn't be sad.

We had the misfire, changed the plugs. No cigar. Funny story the cap was rotated 180 somehow so the wires are completely 180d so it looks incorrectly. . Forgot to tell the guy who bought it.. oops.

 

The 2.0 in the 2000 has a coil right toward the top which can only be put in one way. There is no cap/rotor in it. I am not excited to open the thing up again.

Sold it tuesday and bought a crx. At least they're easy to work on and cheaper than the vw

The electrical isn't the easiest to work with for sure. I chalk most of the issues Dad's TDI has to being the car that three kids learned to drive on though haha.

 

Changing drivers is hard on a vehicle.

Had one run in front of me while I was hiking on Mt. Hood. Thought I was in the clear until I saw 2 cubs behind her. I didn't move for 10 minutes

 

What do you have to power it? I would hope for something like a turboed hayabusa motor
