This is right up there with people who claim racking a pump shotgun is all you need to send the BG running in the opposite direction. Shit only works in Hollywood.

I wouldn't rack a shotgun and give away my location, but if I did, I bet it'd work. Ain't no Navy Seal breaking in my house.

I have no intention on finding out but let's just say if someone is dumb enough to break into someone else's home they may not be bright enough to know what that sound is or what to do or have the sense of self preservation that most of us possess to make them flee to safety.

Don't know if this is the right thread or anyone can help me here but,,,

I have a .33 cal winchester rifle that my father gave to me when I was about 17, 18, not sure when it was. He never told me much about the gun other than it was my grandfathers (his fathers) other than you couldn't buy shells for it anymore as they quit selling them in the 30,s or 40,s (maybe), over time he did find 4 boxes of original shells. 2 before he past away and 2 after from my godfather, other than some story's he told me, I haven't been able to find much out about this gun. The interwebs don't say much and most times I mention the gun, most people tell me I'm confused and don't know what I have, so I've kept it in the back of my closet for years. Now that I'm in my 50's, I would like to know more about this gun and thought I would ask here to see if anyone knows anything or could help steer me in the right direction.

I patterned my shotgun today and the stock fell off. Turns out I left off a bracket that held the recoil assembly to the stock. Without it, a 3" turkey load popped the recoil assembly nut through a thin wall of plastic and allowed it to fall off. Glad it happened today and not tomorrow in the field. The bracket was still in the stock, so I put it all back together and it's good to go. I'll be out in the field tomorrow for the season opener.

Does this count as firearm BS? These guys landed and picked up some dudes right by our campsite near where we were shooting and BS'ing about firearms this weekend.

What do y'all think of someone using the term "weapon" for a pistol? I fully understand that a department store, or any store, isn't going to use that primary lingo when referring to firearms but when it slipped out of my mouth when asking to see a pistol at Scheels here in Lincoln the guy let me know real quick, "First of all, this is not a weapon." and gave me quite a lecturing look/tone haha. I kind of wanted to say, well what is it then? haha but I just nodded and took it and looked it over. Funny thing is he flagged me and everyone in the store with it when getting it out and putting it away ha Hope that doesn't start a debate either. Just curious if y'all see a problem with referring to a pistol as a "weapon" as a customer. It just slipped (from my military days) and I didn't feel I should have changed my tone if that's what it is to me, but was just respectful and said nothing inflammatory. To me it very much is a weapon and should be treated and respected as such, even if only used for sport or recreation, which is not my primary reason for carrying.

"weapon" is an ambiguous term IMHO

anything can be a weapon, especifuckinly a firearm

That how I felt haha the guy seemed pretty upset I said it though. I was thinking to myself, what am I doing carrying one around then, and where can I get a weapon, because that's what I'm here for haha but I didn't want to be a smart aleck for once.

I don't get tied up in the term anymore than I do when people call a mag a "clip." When I hear "weapon" I think of a 16 year old lusting after the ninja sword he just bought at the mall, but I understand the term's use in our hobby/industry. I consider them tools, and don't tend to refer to anything I own as a weapon. However, I don't consider it a misuse of the term when a pistol is referred to one as such.

Haha. No, it was actually really cool. About an hour before the helo came in, this badass lifted truck pulled up and some dude in cammies gets out. I initially thought he was just some kook who was looking for a spot to shoot, but he walks over and introduces himself, shakes everyone's hand and tells us his "friends are going to be landing right over here to pick some dudes up" and that the helo was going to be coming in really low directly over our camp. Really nice guy.
Sure enough, about 45 minutes later, two trainers fly over and do a check of the landing zone, then the Seahawk comes through the canyon and banks right over our heads, loops around and lands in the wash. Good stuff.
