This reminds me of a quote I came across awhile back that referred to marriage and went something like this: "if it's broken, we don't throw it away, we fix it." Keep working on it. It doesn't sound like your marriage is a "throw a way".

No problem, please do. You can never have too many people praying for something!

    Thanks!

Thanks, it's hard but it will help define who I am someday.

    Thanks for the prayers!

    Thanks!

I can fix anything in this world, so far I haven't been able to fix my marriage, but I hope to change that as well!

Well this weekend went well. It started off a touch rocky, and she almost gave up on Friday morning, but I was able to talk her down so to speak, and we worked on the house together all weekend. We interacted very well with one another, did devotions, and prayed together.

We went to church together as a family for Easter yesterday morning as well, and then did our own thing for Easter dinner. It was hard on my mom not having us join the rest of the family for Easter dinner, but she understands we are trying to work on us right now.

As of now she is still at our house, but her stuff is at her moms. She will be going back sometime this week, don't know when, and don't know when shes coming back either, maybe again this weekend. :D

Keep praying! Thanks be to God and to you all for your prayers and support!

Praise God! I'm very happy things are progressing and I will continue praying. Also sent you a decade this morning, did you receive it?

A decade (pronounced, "dekked," rather than "decade" as in years) is one fifth of a rosary, in part of which you say 10 Hail Marys. The whole "sent it, did you recieve it" was just a joke! :D

    ^^ If you're curious

One bit of advice I can offer:

Always be endlessly curious, without judgement, about her experiences.

It is such a hard thing to do as a human being, let alone a human being that has been in a long term relationship. Seems like we always get caught up in defending ourselves and our perspectives even if they are not truly being attacked.

Communication is key (obviously) but the communication must be genuine and honest and that starts with listening to the experience of your partner. And genuinely being curious about it. And without judgment.

All the best to you and yours, Mark.

Have you ever watched Fireproof? If not, awesome movie.. With that, there is an actual "Love Dare" workbook.. Doesn't matter who needs to change, do the love dare.. it will change both of you.. good luck brother.

Thanks for everything guys. Watched Fireproof a few weeks ago...been working through the Love Dare myself, seems like its working!

I try to be as curious and listening as I can, but I always get one word answers. I know there's more to her day than one word. But when I ask questions to follow up, I get accused of being "interrogating." I wish she would just offer up info on her day and want to talk about it.

Can't offer you any advice since the longest relationship I've been in is almost a year and a half and counting, I have no experience in marriage. I'm naturally inclined to start spurting out advice but you know everything I would.

    Still praying!

OK well I think it's time for an update. After a few weekends going well, my wife has come home! She moved the majority of her stuff back on Monday :D

We are continuing counseling, but are starting a 3-week mini workshop thing at church for the next 4 weeks (skips one week) as well.

Its great having my family back together, but this is when the real work begins...for both of us. Please continue to keep us in your prayers!

And I did get a nice message from my MIL on Monday when my wife was on her way home, thanking me for talking with her a while back, and pledging her full support to us and our marriage!
