Hello I'm new to this forum just bought my truck and this is the first mod I have done to it inspired by another thread I found in this forum here is my take on modifying the OEM racks to fit the access cab.

    Starting point

Just cut 12" off and fit test the length on your roof cut material until you are happy with the length

from the left over cut one of the walls off the piece will serve as a guide curve for the to half's and will also be used to mechanically unite the two pieces together

clamp the strip to one of the parts leave half of the strip sticking out.

Flip over drill some holes and fasten with blind rivets use backing washers

Clamp the second half of the rack to the strip drill and pop some rivets, don't forget the backing washers

make sure the gap looks nice and even its my preference but I believe it looks better without trying to fill the gap in with epoxy.

repeat on second rack when done install blind rivet plugs on the holes.

Disassemble the cross bars removing the screw on one end of the bar and cut the same length that you did from its respective rack

drill the same holes that the plastic part needs to be assemble copy the same dimension from the cut off reassemble parts and mount back on plastic racks

Pictures of the Racks mounted on my truck to be continued.....

    A few bolts are different.
So you're planning on Yakima/Thule cross bars to put this to use?

Obviously with the shortened length, the bars will not fold out and span the width of the roof.

Overall I think this is going to look great.
