    okay, ive asked a few times but cant get an answer yet, how much do the frame inspections cost? id like to take mine in to be looked at but if its more than about $50 im just gonna wait until i find a hole on my own...

    why would you pay for someone to look for rust?

    climb under the truck and look for yourself.

    once the dealer finds a rusty frame they aren't going to let you drive away with it. the only way Ill ever get mine inspected is if I know it will fail or it's being recalled.

    Just crawl under and look. Take a hammer with you and tap on rusty areas. If you tap through, then I've got bad news for you. Don't go wailing away with a ball peen hammer, just little more than a lite tap.

    yeah, i phrased that kinda weird, i meant what it costs if i do find a hole, im gonna be down there anyway for summer maintenance, figured i could look.... being in the salt belt though im expecting a hole somewhere... :(

    Gotcha.

    You shouldn't have to pay anything if the frame isn't safe and needs replaced. Or atleast I'd fight it if they tried to charge me for something and it needed replaced.

    On that note... Living in an area where up until this last winter, nothing else is used but salt, and A LOT of it. I make sure I rinse salt off as soon as possible if its going to be close to or above freezing temps. Go to the do it yourself places or depending on current temp at home. Had mine since new and I have nothing more than some surface rust on the welds. I don't coat it with anything.

    yeah, ill be more vigilant next winter, i didn't even know we had a hose/outlet combo that reached the truck until yesterday, it will be much better taken care of now, i want this truck to outlast me
