I bought mine used from another member and had no idea. My glass current overlaps the tailgate - I will look into that adjustment - thanks!

Another thing to look into is that the margins ( between cap and truck ) are the same side to side , my cap migrated forward on one side after a few months of bumpy roads and it was difficult to latch one side of the door .

I loosened the bolts and repositioned it , no issues anymore :)

I adjusted the back glass last night. I actually now have the glass in its "highest" position relative to the shell. Works like a charm - closes and latches both sides, easily, on the first close.

    Thanks!

    What's the difference between a Leer 100R and a Leer 100XL?
I was quoted a price of $1765 including sales tax for a Leer 100R.
I also looked at an ARE CX for $1870 including tax.

The R has framed sliding windows with screens and a framed rear door with dual T Handles to open.

The XL is all flat frameless glass, the windows tip out to vent at the back and the rear door is curved glass and has a single T handle.

The XR that I went with is a cross between the two it has framed sliding windows but the frameless, curved glass and single handle on the back.

With the framed windows you also have more options such as windoors, or upward opening doors in place of the windows. With the exception of interior upgrades the XL is pretty much a complete package and can't be modified on the outside.

I would also recommend that you get a removable front window as it makes cleaning the back window of your truck much easier if you plan to leave your cap on all the time.

    This thread is old,but good.
I found a used ARE Z series on craigslist for $800 and had to drive three hours to get it. When I was looking the Z series was about $2400 new.

My last 2 Toppers were ARE I bought them because the were way cheaper than leer the color matched great but the last one did leak when it rained always wet in the back after a rain.

Purchased my 2014 Tacoma last October and purchased a new ARE topper in February.

So far I am completely satisfied. The color is slightly darker than my Tacoma but hardly enough to matter.

I have had the topper off road in the desert across rivers in the snow. I put 5,000 miles on my truck last month. So far the topper does not leak and has performed perfectly.

Only drawback was the cost of a new topper (z Series, tilt front window, area lights) .............$2,400 for a short bed.

Mud flaps were removed from the truck in the photo below soon after getting the cap.

Can anyone give me an approx' price for a Leer 700 or A.R.E. LSX ultra or LSX series Tonneau cover for a 2014 double cab short bed Tacoma Sport? I just need a ballpark figure including installation.

Looking at a canopy myself but wondering if the headliner is worth bucks? My previous canopy didn't have it so no experience with them. Is there a possibility for mould?

Mold? If the headliner was saturated and then sat in a wet environment without being able to dry? Maybe so. But, I've never run across it.

I was told by a dealer that leer and a.r.e are built under the same roof. What's that tell you? I have a leer 100xr w/ thule rails and its damn nice cap for the money. Ive owned all sorts of caps on trucks. Spend the xtra dollars and get a headliner too. Much better than looking at fiberglass every time you stick your head in there.
