I believe he means he detaches, folds, and puts it in the tent. There is someone who modified it to allow the cover and annex to be attached at the same time.

I got the impression he was looking at used ones and that's what was available? One is cvt with annex and one was tepui and also an awning?
    :notsure:
Mine works that way. Mt bachelor with annex that has 3 walls.

    Incorrect.

My annex is always attached. Too much work to remove it.

I think we've had this discussion in here or one of the other rtt threads before. I understand not all annexes are the same, but in my case (mt bachelor- basic 2 person tent with no extension over the ladder, just door above ladder) my annex has 3 sides (so the side against the truck is always open, no material across it) and then there is a full length zipper at the ladder that I always leave unzipped. So it's basically 2 flaps that hang down from the tent and then when I fold up the tent I just toss the material up on either side of the ladder and throw the cover over it.

Now that I re-read his post I can see how they are probably used haha. I thought he just picked them out of random .

Also, the tepui is fully enclosed. You can see it in his pictures...so still not sure how he does it but I would be interested in an annex if that was possible.

I don't know why the ladder wouldn't be able to fold into place?

Seems to me it should work for any tent and any annex now that I'm thinkin about it

Yea you're right I see there's a 4th wall on the orange tent. I still think it should work the same way for folding up the tent with it attached.

The problem is that the annex slides into were the cover is normally held. So if the annex is attached you don't have a cover to pack it all up.

    Not the way I'm thinking..

So the floor is 2 pieces. Each piece has a groove around it. The floor that folds out has the annex attached to it. The floor that stays attached to the truck is where the cover attaches to.

Maybe, I would have to open the tent to find out if we have that second grooved piece.

My annex is always attached also.
I don't know about the CVT tents but my Tepui can be folded up with the annex still attached. I just fold up the annex all around the ladder and put the cover on. My annex has 4 sides and a floor.
Here it is ready to fold up.

I have a tepui rugged as well. Interesting to know...an annex will be in my future now :). Maybe it will be my cheap (truck part cheap) purchase before winter.

    Good eye.
I was doing a Tepui Adventure, It was a lot of fun. The guys at Tepui do a great job on their adventure camp outs. We where 5 miles off Nacimiento Fergusson road.

I can't figure how you guys are able to fit it all in under the cover. I see how it would work but my cover is a tight fit with just the tent in there. When I try and leave bedding in it, it is really tight and puts a lot of strain on the zipper. Fitting the annex and bedding in there I am not sure it would work for me.

    Lot's of stuff (-;
These are just the two I found on craigslist that I was comparing. The CVT was 925.00, and the Tepui was 1100.00

When i had my massive 2 person sleeping bag it was a challenge, but if i were to just add the annex I'm sure i could do it, I'm just concerned a bit because my annex requires for the cover to be removed so i can fit it in the groove where the cover normally occupies.. Someone make a vid of this setup

Update - Did some research. Mine is the ARB Pilbara. Not nearly as common as the Simpson III. Essentially the same thing but without the added part that goes over the ladder. So a little less privacy but much easier egress from the tent itself.
I can't even find the Pilbara on ARBs Website. But it has all the upgraded features of the Simpson III like the beefier zippers and mattress.

Added two pictures. Hopefully they work. Let me know if they don't.

Yeah that's how I thought mine was but like others have said I think there is a groove on both of the floor panels. I will check mine today before I take it off the truck.

This would be my concern too. You could leave the 3 sides of the annex attached to the cantilevered half of the tent but the travel cover would be really snug.
