Thanks! I'm actually not sure who makes the grips. He said he got them at a local gun shop pretty cheap. I do like them because they're inlet for easier access to the mag release. He gave me the factory wood grips also.

Same here, I really like the 1911.

The AR I built was a budget build so I threw out a feeler to see if I could 'trade up'. I was patient and bought a lot of parts on sale so I made out well overall. I have another build in progress also that will be better quality parts so I figured I could let the budget build go.

I do have some things I want to look into such as giving it a beaver tail but that'll be a ways off. I need to get it to a range and get some rounds through it first but I do want to get ahold of some higher capacity mags for it. Factory are only 7 rounds.

Wilson Combat makes good 1911 mags & I like the Chip McCormick Power Mags about as well if not a touch better. You can't go wrong with either one though and both are superior to offerings from most everyone else IMO.

If I threw all my mags from all my firearms into our dog's pool it would probably be overflowing. I still don't think I have enough.

You guys can get them at various places online for about $30 per mag plus shipping. Not sure how the overlords of MA handle that but they're out there.

Many places have flat policies stating they won't ship ammo or mags to MA. I might get lucky with the 1911 stuff since 10 rounds isn't considered high capacity, but it'll take some searching. I'll find some way to get my paws on them, don't you worry :)

Had a good friend from Arizona up for a visit this past weekend. He's got the long range shooting bug. Lots of questions, etc. I took him out and let him shoot one of my rifles. I called wind for him. He got 3 hits at 447 yards on his first 3 rounds. He had never shot at that distance or beyond. (450 is not really long range, but he was excited.) He got 3 hits at 805 yards, no misses. And at 918 yards his first two shots were close but misses. The next 3 were hits. He was excited and high fiving! I get as much satisfaction coaching a new shooter to a long range hit as I do shooting it myself. We had a good time.
