anything ive recommended has either lasted me a long time at home or for companies I have worked for.

I H8 them. My band saw is a total POS.

meh... both stores carry the dumbed down homeowner versions last time I shopped. check out grainger/mcmaster-carr or similar local store for your drills. youll use them more than anything and should be hi quality models not homeowner versions imho.

 

Yup, my first power tools were craftsmen, basically the same as ryobi. Ok for light use but died fairly quickly. I stick to rigid or dewalt now, worth the extra money for the durability

Realistically none of that stuff is home IMPROVEMENT stuff. Home improvement is more electrical tools, drill, saw, spackle knife, paint roller, wall paper remover. Etc.

I haven't used any of my wood working stuff for home improvement except to build more shelves to hold more tools lol.

Probably a smart move

I've had dewalt, ryobi, and Milwaukee cordless drills and given technology has improved over the last 10 years, Milwaukee has been the best. Dewalt I had to replace the chuck, ryobi I went through a few batteries and burnt up low speed, Milwaukee has built everything in my house so far and done a great job of it. LEDs to light up the area you're drilling is a nice feature, and the new batteries charge in no time. Drill and impact driver set for about $200.

I have a professional rigid table saw and wish I had a portable one instead. Would probably buy rigid anyway though. Craftsman radial arm saw, dewalt circular saw that has cut all the wood for hundreds of projects and still works great. Forget what brand miter saw but the handle is starting to break from carrying it around. Cut the wood for probably 20 halfpipes and everything since.

The DeWalt portable tablesaws are better than Rigid , Makita sliding compound miter saws are better than any of the rest except Festool

 

You can't go wrong with the ones that have the laserbeams

Milwaukee M18 stuff. As far as sanders/table saw, Dewalt makes a solid tool.

you are 100% right, It's a matter of how much you want to pay..... TTi group is the company that makes Milwaukee, Ryobi, Ridgid and for 100 more on the Milwaukee kit you mention vs the same kit from Ryobi... I sure hope they use better components...lol
If one is willing to spend the money. .. I say Milwaukee, Bosch, Makita and Hilti should be very good tools for more than the occasional home repair and/or light weekend project..

dewalt, rigid, milwaukee are excellent. deff needed for commercial but my home tools are mostly craftsman. never had a problem except for the digital torque wrench, pos needs to be reset after every use...mine f'd up but i believe every craftsman product comes with a lifetime guarantee. just please dont buy husky or harbor freight tools, they suck. sorry craig
