Well so far I haven't had any experience with DB's on either of my tacoma's but, I had the fabtech kit on my titan with the dirt logic shocks and I hated it. Shocks were junk and DB itself was overly big. The BDS offers so much more clearance.

I do agree completely with you about opinions...have you pulled your PC kit off yet?

If your worried about weight run a 315/70r17 which weighs only 66lbs versus the 35 12.50 17 which weighs 75lbs.

No, with the money I have invested in making it what it is now, its just not worth it to have to pull the xmember out and buy new coils, springs and rear shocks. My truck does everything I want it to do now and it will remain. You have the right idea, I've looked at the BDS and they have a good set up with the Fox 2.5s. The only things I would work for if I were you is TC heimed uppers, race series lowers and a Deaver leaf pack. I would also stay away from 35s and head towards a 285x75r17. You won't need to gear or worry about rubs.... But this is just the opinion of another asshole that is me. :D

I will also add that if you are absolutely certain you are heading this way I would find out if the Fox are fully adjustable. The reason I say this is that if you add 35s and pre load the shit out of those Fox's to clear them.. You will hate the ride. If you really want to get the most travel out of a DB, you need to leave the preload out and stay in the shocks sweet spot or end up getting custom builds like evenflow. This is how I achieved MT numbers without lifting my truck to huge heights. This is why I'm at 5" on 34s and only sacrificed a half of an inch clearance at the DB.

Or save yourself a shit ton of money and just go full MT set up on a 3" lift. You can even go 35s, but you will need a CMC and fenders to do so.

Crazy thing is tirerack claims the 35 12.50's weight 64lbs and the 315's are 67lbs..And thats the Goodyear MTR's which a lot of guys are making the switch too.

Most defiantly will be looking into a leaf pack and ditch the blocks asap. Alcan's will probably be my choice. May even do an progressive aal and a 2-2.5 tapered block w/ u bolt flip kit rather than the 4'' blocks for awhile. Got a local guy who does custom drive shafts so I may have a one piece built also so I dont have to worry about the carrier crapping out. Also probably gonna try and get a setup through a buddy of mine with some saw's vs the fox's. He's a pretty big believer in them..Not sure yet and I already have camburg UCA's but, with the heims. Thinking about switching those of for the ball joint style. Id like to keep the stock lowers as is and grease those up well until I have troubles with them. The stupid cam bolts were froze on my 08' which was a pita when it was alignment time

And believe me a badass Mid travel setup was the original plan..hence the the camburg uppers (285 75 17's for clearance galore) And if it was justify-able a LT setup would be tits but, I just dont have the time to wheel my truck as much as I would like to

We'll see though by the end of summer..Waiting for my Nitto's to crap out before I pull the trigger on anything

Check treaddepot.com. I have found in most cases the metric versions do weigh less.

So what's the point of dumping all of that $ on a DB lift? Sounds like you really are confused IMO. Maybe hung up on too many assholes, I mean opinions...
:p you already have camburg uppers keep them unless you can sell them and spend the 600 on some uniball uppers from TC or Icon to get some more travel out of them. Take this $ you are about to drop on DB and get some Icon 2.0s in the front and rear and don't bother with the remote resi. Cap it off with an all pro, alcan or deaver leaf pack and call it a day.
With that set up right there on some 285x75r17 MTR or even AT you will love your trucks ride and performance. You will have a very capable truck especially if you already have the atrac & locker.
Do yourself a favor and give Jason or Vince a call at SDHQ down here in Phoenix. If anything just to hear their opinions and get some prices. Evenflow may have some words to share about SDHQ but myself and large number of AZ guys stand by them.
Even if you don't wheel as much as you like a guarantee you will love that set up and ride on and off highway. You will find yourself making time to play in the dirt.

Yep...agreed. I am also on the verge of "gone too far" to justify going back and going to a MT set up...even though I really want to.

You still could get the MT numbers with your set up man. The only things that I want and do not need at this point is armor, onboard air and a rear locker. If I only had one it would be onboard air because I drop to 18 to 20 psi every time I go out and I'm tired of relying on other people and gas station compressors.

Then I'm in the same situation, no skids and shitty clearance. One of the reasons I held off on doing lockers front/rear on mine. Can't climb rocks without skids. I have OBA already, love it!

    Aaron,
I was looking at your build thread and I see no point in going bckwds at this point but you could easily make some changes to get what you want. You have a sweet build I just think its the pre load you have to run with those 35s that is limiting you.

On a side note I really want to see how evenflows travel ended up so we can get a good comparison between what I did to maximize travel vs what he did.

    Yes
I think it is going to be a few more weeks for my front CO's. The only reason the rears showed up so soon was that the shock body length I ordered happen to be something they had in stock. The fronts are being custom milled so it will be a it longer but if the math is right it will be around a 6-7" stroke shock so around 11-13" of travel ?

On a side note learned me somethin' new today - If anyone with 35's wants to order a high clearance rear bumper and you want to be able to go all the way to bump and stuff the tire you MUST shorten the side pieces of the bumper approx 2" because our rear tires do not sit centered in the rear wheel well. This is another situation where you need to measure - measure - order instead of just buying off the shelf stuff.
