    Good morning all,
I've read stories of various pieces of debris getting sucked up into ones intake. Even heard of birds n critters ending up inside there. Now I know it's mainly air that travels through the intake and out the exhaust but in very rare cases, leaves or twigs can accidently end up in there. So how would one of these large items be removed? Lets say hypethetically speaking something non decomposable like a long piece of plastic was sucked in there.
What I'm trying to find out here is, if something got sucked into the throttle body butterfly valve, is there anywhere along its path to the tacomas exhaust that it would be caught? I'm imagining some sorta screen or mesh that would catch it, is there anything like that?

The engine air filter. There's not really any way for anything to get into your intake unless it's not assembled and your running the motor without the intake on.

Sounds like you're talking about the air system for the Ac and heat. Leaves and things get stuck around the blower motor. Blower motor being what blows the air into the cabin of the truck.

Lol. Ok, so is your hypothetical piece of plastic a real piece of plastic? If something made it past the throttle body it would either get jammed into the intake manifold or into the cylinder if it's small enough.

    Or around the valve inlet.

Sounds like maybe the OP may have sucked something down the intake, my guess...

LoL I'm just trying to make this seem as un-embarrassing as possible. Okay, so you know those red straws that come with certain spray/air cans? Was cleaning throttle body with some cleaner n that straw was attached, got the straw too close n caught up in the throttle body while I was manually throttling n it got sucked up in there. Haven't had a chance to open anything up yet to retrieve it but that's what happened. So I'm wondering how far in it might of went n hoping it's not an extensive job.

Hey, shit happens. I would look trough the throttle body with the butterfly valve open and see if it's visible. If not, then remove the throttle body and take a look.
The straw may not have made it past the bend in the manifold.
