Just like all things...There are good and bad ones. The Military has TONS of folks who take distance/online learning courses and do great with them.

It's worth it to have the degree...if the name of the university has a decent reputation.

Depending on the course of study you'd like to take- You can find real colleges that offer online programs that require you attend like 6 weeks of classes once a year or something....MUCH stronger name on the degree with limited time in seats at class. I'm looking at completing a masters that way.

yea, figured as much. The way I look at it, is since im on the computer most nights anyways, I can get my learn on vs being stuck in a college classroom, and not paying attention and failing the course:(

Ive always wanted a fire science degree

It takes fuel air and ignition to make fire.

I dont really thing an "on-line" only type of school is worth shit. Try a local university and see if they have online classes. Like that online school Devry is shit in my opinion. Go to a real university and take online courses and you'll be better off.

I take online courses at the University of Phoenix. I work full time, have a 3 year old, Neontrail (lol) and a dog. I do not have time to go to a physical classroom. I love it. My local college did not offer everything that I needed to take for my degree and most won't. I'm in my second month now and really like it. If you have any questions about University of Phoenix let me know.

I tried Touro University International. On my 3rd class with them the instructor set the pace WAY too high for a programming course. They weren't willing to work with me. I took a 3 month break then they wanted a 'fee' to start taking classes with them again.

I've had much better experience with DeVry. There's an office in-town if I want to take classes there instead of online. Plus they don't push just to get more money out of me.

    Just my 2 cents.

Got my bachelors at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University online... and now I'm in grad school online with Daniel Webster College.

Make sure it's a reputable university before you shell out the $$$.

Kansas State University has a lot of online (distance education) offerings. I got my Master's degree there and I had a very good experience overall.

A friend of mine went to Embry-Riddle. Great school from what he says, although he did bitch and complain about the male to female ratio.

What did you get your Masters degree in from Kansas State? Im looking into the dietetics program there. Its seems like the best school out there for online degrees which dont get overlooked when applying for jobs.

At the moment I am taking business management/hospitality and tourism. I've been a property manager for years, so I want to move into management of resorts or a casino.

So many more colleges and Universities are offering their classes on-line now. If I had a choice between an on-line only college, and a local University that had classes on-line, I would go with the local college. No knock on those who choose on-line only schools, but I have worked a lot with HR managers, recruiters, and head hunters, and most of them will rank a local University higher than a college like the University of Phoenix. Again, that may be the college of choice for some of you and a degree is better than none, and I don't know enough about the difference in the education, I'm just sharing what I know about how people who do the hiring look at things.
