Yea.. It would be fun, but even with a long bed and with the camping gear, the bike would be tight... I have the hitch mounted carrier, but with the washboard road, I wouldn't be surprised if the bike found its way off or pretty beat up..

Yea, I believe so.. just wasn't sure if he needed to be actually listed on someone's permit.. Putting him and his +1 on your permit and his truck would be the easiest and fastest way.

True. It's easier when you're riding solo.

Oh...is there going to be a meet up before rolling in? This is my first trip to the Flats so I'm not sure exactly where to go or what's required to roll onto the grounds.

Could also meet up at the restrooms at yokohama before heading to the guard shack. Then stop at the dirt/gravel parking lot at the top of the hill to air down before hitting the trail. I'm gonna be a little late, so I made copies of my permit for Mike and Rick so they don't have to wait up for me.
But if Rick wants to wait for me, i'll take him up the lower road to get up to the campsite :D

What time they open?? Can't do online. .lol.. If the class is free, then you can actually register now.. If there is a fee, then start time is 9:00, so... You should be here by 10:30 tops.. lol..

I'm down for whatever time and with whomever can get me and the family to the camp site on the path of least resistance... lol..

wife isn't the earliest of risers, so a need time of like 9 or 9:30 is more doable than 8:00. A little later is fine by me as well.

Thinking about airing down to make it a bit more comfortable for the spouse. Where ever is best to do that is fine by me...

Just follow the jeep signs with the arrow. They point towards the campground I think. There is also a map as soon as you head down the dirt trail. Snap a pic. There is a left turn that says Kuaokala game reserve, That is the lower tougher trail we all came down last time. Don't go that way unless you want pinstripes ;)
Doubt I can be there by 10.

LOL, that's just the main road. There are tons of off shoots. Also doesn't show the lower road through the hunting area either. The map at the trail isn't much better tho.
I wish they would open the mokuleia access road. I heard that one is tougher.

OK..I just saw this...lol Although we did talk about it today... I didn't order the factory option with the pinstripes ( it was too expensive:D), so we can take the upper road! Not unless you help me tape up the body with painters tape prior...:D If you wanted to take the lower road you shouldn't have mentioned it Iven. Then I would have no choice...:D

Ok now the wife wants to come. Is the head count on the first page accurate? And how about kids? I'll have +2 adults and 2 kids. Neil let me know when you get a chance. If there isn't room I'll have to see if I can get the day pass ASAP.

I knew she was gonna do this! Now I gotta go really slow :-(

If you are just going for the day and not camping just need to get a day pass. Need to go down get the pass. Here is the info Ron posted on page 4. It's on the hiking permit at DLNR. Address: 1151 Punchbowl St.
Rm 325. 808-587-0166. Tell them you want to drive the Kuaokala-Mokuleia Trail. Not Hike. The form is simple. Just fill out and Have the license plate #'s of the 5 trucks with you.
