Trail info:

Lander, Christina Lake and Shoshone lake:

[IMG]Epic Day Three-23.jpg by Monte Nickles Photos, on Flickr

At this point..i feel like i don't need to talk about these so much..Most konw about it from The Epic last year and such. These aren't HARD trails. But they can be brutal and fatiging as they are just so rough all the time. Easy to loose focus and pick a bad line and bang something up.

The only REQUIREMENT for these, is have sliders please. And be ready to bang up your junk :D haha

    Plan:

So this is what i am thinking. Anyone that whats to run Christina lake NEEDS to be in lander Friday morning. I will be in Lander Thursday night at some point. Get up at hit the road friday morning around 9 or 10 at the latest. Christina takes about 6 hours with a lot of trucks.

We will be meeting at the City park thursday night as there is free camping there, tent or camper, I just pull open the RTT in the parking lot.

    Park:

    1180 S 3rd St, Lander, WY 82520 - Google Mapshttps://www.google.com/maps/place/1180+S+3rd+St,+Lander,+WY+82520/@42.8226899,-108.735628,17z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x875901eab2133acd:0x92d4675d23992824

We will be camping at the trail head of Christina that night unless we wanna go somewhere else, open to discussion :D haha

Saturday morning we will run back down to Lander, probably stop at the Trout pool if people want, its pretty cool. then Head to shoshone. We will drive to the lake and camp there that night.

Sunday, drive out and hit the road home.

    Simple :D

Okay, this trail does have a pretty bad rep. however, having driven it, it is not that bad. Your adrenaline WILL be pumping and driving up the cayon wall is VERY exciting..but you will be fine. The did some big maintanence on the road 3 years ago so its pretty smooth to drive up now. It IS a bit narrow in places and you WILL have to do about 26 3 or 5 point turns to make the corners.

I have NOT done this with a 2nd gen truck..but i think you'll be okay.

I am a pretty good spotter and i will personally help you get your rig up if you start questioning yourself in anyway. We don't want to rush anyone.

So come at your own risk :D haha

Other then that. All these trails are very simple. VERY fun and extremely scenic. so bring a camera.

    Plan:

Meet at Edelwise in Clark, Wy Friday morning at 9 am! So you all coming from far away, you can either meet me there, or come to Powell thursday night and stay at my place and leave with me. YOu can also stay in Cody wy somewhere or clark. Totally up to you. Please let me know what your plan is so we know where you are :D haha

    Meeting point:

    2998 Belfry Hwy - Google Mapshttps://www.google.com/maps/place/2998+Belfry+Hwy/@44.894028,-109.1129975,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x534ec82af44cbd95:0x48a3028af0e17987?hl=en

Drive up Morrison that day. Go to Sawtooth lake, camp. thats Day 1

Wake up, head to Cooke City, get gas if needed, start into Goose lake, Camp at Goose lake.

Wake up come out of goose and go to are normal lives again..

Hopefully we won't be sharing the areas too much will people on the weekends..

Photos to help make you want to come can be found here :D

    Gear list

Okay this is important stuff. There should be multiple rigs at each trail so we should have a good supply of a lot of things. Nobody will get left behind or die due to shortages in supplies or gear or parts. We are a unit when we go out on the trail. We leave together, we come back together. PERIOD.

if you cant comply with that..please refrain from showing up..

    Anyways!

So I know most of you KNOW what to bring camping. We will all pretty much be veterans. But Wyoming is a bit..hmmm..touchy..ha so i want to make sure some of you are prepared that are coming as well as request you bring some gear that is required in my eyes.

Again though, nothing is 100% required..but a lot is STRONGLY suggested ;)

Things for all and any trails on the trip:

    • CB Radio-Okay so i have wheeled many times where these things don't work well or people don't have them..and i have wheeled where they all worked perfect and everyone had one. I MUCH rather prefer the latter. Having a CB is AMAZINGLY helpful and nice too have. You can let the leader know if you need to stop or you want spotted over an obstacle...or..you can talk shit to each other :D so they are handy and fun. I have an extra i will bring and let anyone use it..though its not a great one. They are cheap and easy to hook up, its a good investment if your an avid offroader and i ask you PLEASE get one that works well and test it before you come :)
    • Extra Fuel-This won't be a HUGE deal for most. If fact is probably wont be a deal at all. But you NEVER KNOW! be prepared, tis the boyscout way  Having an extra 5 gal tank of fuel is a nice thing to have. I personally will bring 15 gal extra fuel..but my truck Frankenstein is a heavy drinker and i know that so im going over kill. But im more then happy to lend you fuel if by chance you get low :) But if you can, just bring your own too.
    • Tent-Okay, this is kind of a no brainer..but ya never know :p ha Please let me know if you need to borrow a tent or sleeping bag or anything! I will get you hooked up with something so your comfortable. Just make sure you have a nice comfortable sleeping area. We will be up in the mountains at the end of summer at elevations of 8-10,000 feet!!! While this makes for a perfect day for wheeling..it does get chilly at night so come prepared. I would not recommend planning on sleeping outside without a shelter or pad for a few reasons. 1) Wyoming is VERY rocky in the hills..you will get used to this on the trails. But its very hard to find a lovely flat spot. Due to this, please bring a nice air pad if your ground tenting. 2) Im sure most of you are used to crazy weather in the Northwest area..WY is no different..could rain..snow..hail..sleet..who knows haha prepare for the worst :)

Bring lots and lots of nice water. We will see quite a bit of rivers and streams so taking a swim will be easy(freaking COLD tho :p) but having some nice drinking water will be important. 5 gals for 3 days is a good rule i like to follow.

Please pick a good line that YOU are comfortable with and YOU know your truck can clear. We WILL spot you over anything you want. YOU just have to let us know, nice to have a CB to do that ;) If your no comfortable driving your truck over an area. We will discuss either leaving it, or allowing someone more experienced to drive it for you. Also make sure your up on maintenance stuff before you come out. Can mean life or death for your truck.

But i truly believe they will be VERY hand to most. Especially if you have no lift, stock sized tires and aren't an amazing driver. Not Quite so needed but nice to have stuff:
This is going to be the usual truck mod stuff..

    • Lift on the truck
    • Larger tires(33")
    • Bumpers(Plate, tube)
    • OBA(Some way to air up your tires. I have a CO2 kit and an air compressor anyone can use. there will be other but the more the merrier and faster we can move on :))
    • Winch
    • Recovery gear(Straps, shackles, HiLift, tire kit ect.)
    • Spare parts(CVs)
    • Tools

Like i said if everyone bring more then enough and something for everything then we should all be able to cover each others back. :D

Looking for Sheridan jobs. I found a few basic jobs that are simple enough. Like UPS Package handler get paid and get a workout. Only thing that sucks is the hours.

What kind of gear do you need? You have/getting a RTT. All you really need is a cooler and if you want a chair.

Not a lot of camping stuff really. That'll be easy to get by then. Packing up so that the gf will be able to come along comfortably by then will be the harder part.

I'm just not sure if I can get all of the maintenance done in time. My just have to prioritize what actually gets done and just bring the new parts I buy along with my just in case something does break.

    CV's (will definitely be done)
    carrier bearing
outer tie rods (Possibly inners due to seized jam nut on passenger side)
    lower ball joints
pulley or belt under the hood

Ah yeah, I suck with maintenance. I need to do an oil change and have been putting it off until I get under the truck for gears. I bought one of those fancy oil plug on/off valve things so it will be less of a burden in the future and hopefully less messy.

Is your GF a city girl? Wyoming isn't really a dirty place. Not showering for 3 days isn't a big deal out here and the only thing that gets a little nasty is long hair. I know it can be hard to convince a girl that but its true. If she can wash her hair she would probably be a happy camper :).

yea just a dunk in the creek will be good. Get biodegratable soap and your good.

Of course..water up here is FREEZING haha But sucks if she isn't a camper chick. I have been spoiled, gal id bring was a back packer so RTT was luxurious to her hahaha

Nah, she'll be fine out in the country. It's just inevitable that a girl has to pack more stuff than a guy

She's never been actual camping though come to think of it haha
We'll see. Carrier bearing and tie rods are the only parts that worry me since the passenger side may be seized.
