I want mine ASAP but I'm not gonna bug Bobby about it. I'll get shipping info when I get it. I could call and email everyday but that's not gonna get the containers here faster. Like I've said before. I'm just thankful for the GB. Period. to Bobby and the CVT staff.

    specious.

edit - well, perhaps not. i'd love to hit up Cascade Lake at the end of May but if I don't get my tent I've got a trip to Idaho in August.

volunteers to wait? i'll buy you a beer if you make to Seattle :)

    Wrong x2
Not mind blowing since the above two are wrong.Lol
Wrong, you guys got it all wrong. I want a RTT, my wife wants the RTT.

If the RTT doesn't ship before may 5 then we going to have to buy a regular tent. What is the point on having a nice expensive regular and then a really expensive RTT?

We can't return the regular tent, right? So it's a keeper, since the RTT didn't ship then that can be cancelled. Wife's point is, Bobby promised we will not miss our trip with the RTT. We will have it by may 14 he says. My wife doesn't not like to wait till last minute to buy a item that she will be using many times thru out the year. She wants to go shopping for a tent if it's going to be a regular one. That's her point, and I agree with her.

Btw, we all know we in this gb for more than $1000, everyone is in for minimum $1150 besides the pickups and the bachelor's.

Same here mines was charged the first day I ordered the tent.

I'm really not trying to stir anything up here, and have thus far kept pretty quiet and have tried to be optimistic about the whole situation throughout, but I am kinda in the same boat with Gshadow here as is another member that I did the group shipping with. Now I understand that Bobby is trying to do all he can to get the tents in and ship them out as fast as he can. I appreciate that he offered the discount as I would have not otherwise considered buying such an expensive tent and that the shipping deadlines were just out of his control. But certain promises were made, and both myself and the guy that I am doing the group shipping with were promised tents before April 15th for trips we had that we had to cancel or make other arrangements for. No I did not buy the tent for that ONE trip, but with 2 more trips coming up (first one being May 30th), if they do not make that deadline, I may have to ask Bobby for a refund. Its not ideal but being in college and paying for schooling, I can't have $1000 tied up in a tent that I wont be able to use on my upcoming trips. Before anyone says oh you shouldn't have bought it if you can't afford it, ill save you the trouble. I can afford it, the point is I won't actually be able to use it as much as I had expected and having to make other arrangements $1000 tied up is quite a sum of money to have zilt to show for.

Don't get me wrong though, I don't hold anything against Bobby or CVT, I just think they bit a lil more off than they could chew. I spoke to the man personally and he seems like a standup guy.

get a tent from rei if you have to, you can straight up tear a hole in it and still bring it back. not even trying to be a smart ass lol i do it all the time. and yea the gb did blow up beyond bobbys imagination. and im sure bobby did promise people ship by dates, but this group buy is nothing short of a logistical nightmare. like previously stated he can only get x amount a week. cant make the boat go anyfaster or ups/fedex plane fly anyfaster sooooooo we re all gunna have to wait and play nice cuz we re all in the same boat. i bet that burying bobby in emails and voicemails isnt gunna help, infact the opposite ( speaking to everyone here ). i mean yea im dissapointed im probly not gunna be able to use mine for a planned trip but its out of my control so its watever.

idk we ve all seen this happen on gbs before so ive kinda come to expect it

I placed my order on the last day, and called it in, and I'm having them make a custom rack so I imagine he just hasn't got to processing the order yet. No promises were made to me, I just said I'd like to have it by June when I have a group camping thing with work. Either way it's not gonna darken my skies if I don't get it in time for that particular trip. I've got a small collection of ground tents that have worked fine for me for years, and being a couple hundred pounds lighter and a foot lower is great on tight trails. A little bit of a wait is no big deal because I know I'll be using this tent for years as long as I can keep it together.

Do you think doing that to REI is the right thing to do? I hate people that do that to me. Why would i want to do that to another retailer? I know what REI's return policy is. I didnt buy a $300 sleeping bag for nothing and drop another $125 each for KID size bags too(you have kids you know they grow out of stuff fast). I'm not afraid to spend money. :)

I feel the same way except, my wife wants a RTT so we dont have to lug around a big tent bag, cots, tarp, stakes, hammer, and all the other stuff that goes along with the regular tent experience. If the RTT simplifies our lives as much as we think it will, more camping trips are on the horizon besides the two already planned.

I too feel Bobby has been a pleasure to deal with. I wonder how good is his Mandarin is? When i talk to my factories in China i use WeChat. To send voice, video and text messages. Most factories in China have capacity to build 1000pcs per month with 35 day average lead time. Westerners that dont speak the language might be at a disadvantage :p

Levity is great, but all joking aside, I thought a 30-60 day shipping delay was probably worst case scenario. If you're saying, in all seriousness, that the later orders may not ship until July, I would probably prefer to cancel my order and pay full price to get a tent (from somewhere?) sometime in May.

Are people who call in for new orders being told they will have to wait until July for shipment? I'm just trying to understand my options. The 30% savings are great, but if it means changing or cancelling our camping plans, it means nothing.

I am not saying that what so ever. A 30-60 delay is where we are at. People who are calling in and ordering after gb and now are told end of may through June. Some styles of tents we have been selling are already back logged through the end if June. These are not at the discount either. We do let them know there is a waiting list.

REI recently changed their return policy from a lifetime no questions asked policy to a limited one year policy because people were abusing it. sounds like you were one of those people.

FYI, while we're talking about REI, they do rent out tents and other gear. Perhaps instead of buying a tent and then returning it you could just rent one for the trip if your RTT doesn't make it in time.
