blue led headlights, 285/75/16 grabber AT2's, custom pedals, custom shifter, flowmaster 40 series muffler, bedlinered fender flares, 2.5" lift kit via shackles and spacers, custom exhaust out the back, chrome exhaust tip, and Herculined bed, Weathertech floormats, Cabelas Trail Gear Camo Seat Covers ... Nice thing was I got the truck for $4000
I got this 2001 Toyota Tacoma Xtracab on April 24, 2009 for $4000. When i got her it had around 144000 miles. It's a nice little 4 banger that gets around 23 mpg, its my first car and i love her:

my first order of business was to slap some nice looking AVS window vent thingys, i picked these up at a local auto parts store for $40:

i also bought some interior stuff:
    -cheapy little shift knob: $10
-Mossy Oak seat belt shoulder guards: $2
    -cheap pedals: $14

i had the back end of the truck painted due to prevoius paint chipping, this cost me $175

the next thing i had to do was take her offroad to test her abilities: while doing this i gave her some new scratches:

She did great offroad and at one point i had water all the way up to the front bumper, but she just plowed right through. Even though i love going offroad i was so pissed when i got those scratches that i dedicated her to just being a show truck.

i decided that my taco was much to quite so i welded on a Flowmaster 40 series, the muffler cost me $110 with some extra piping that i needed:

this muffler does a good job of hiding the four bangerness of the truck, but it doesn't sound like a V8:(

After a few months of no mods i found tacoma world and that set me off

    i bedlinered the fender flares:

Next i wanted a little lift so i decided on a rough country spacer/shackle lift for $200. this kit came with 2.5" spacers, and 1.5" shackles with longer rear shocks.

this took me 6 hours but was totally worth it:

while i was under there i welded a pipe right out the rear:

    the lift is awesome:

i have 4 285/75/16 general grabber At2's in the mail that i got for $705 i'll post more pics when i get them, thanks for viewing this build, there is much more to come!!

For some reason, I've always kinda liked the look of the 1st gens a bit more than the 2nd gens. But then again, I can't complain. I love my truck :D

I took off my skid plates and repainted them black, they were pretty gross, and covered in all sorts of shit:

    i cleaned them:

    then painted them:

i also put in an alternator cause my bearing had gone bad. My tires have arrived in the mail, same with me 1/4" spacers, i'll have them all put on tommorow

Its been a while since i updated this biuld, and I have just accumulated some small stuff that I could add:

-- I changed from conventional motor oil over to fully synthitic=$30

-- Got the passangers side nice and clear coated becuase of some nasty scratches that I couldn't deal with, also got a small dent popped out=$250

-- Got an alignment (they had to add some type of spacer in order to get the specs correct)=$60

-- Decided to take the center caps off on the wheels, don't know if i should leave them off or put them back on:

-- The other day i cleaned the entire undercarriage, and noticed a tad bit of rust near the back of the frame, mabye tommorow I will take a wire brush to it and rattle can some primer on there, also getting my undercarriage oil sprayed thursday night to help prevent some rust.

Its been about a month since I wheeled my truck last, like a said above I wasn't going to wheel it because of the scratch, but I finally decided that its meant to be a truck and to get beat. So I had to take it out again, I drove on some moderatly hard trails and took it through some thick mud, I try to stay off the real tight trails with to many branches to wreck my paint, but I now am officially offroading with my truck again, and I love it:D

It ll make it too 300,000 with regular maintenence. My brother has a 1996 2.7 with the 5 speed, and he has 309,XXX on his and its still running strong, but it needs a head gasket replacement.

I love your truck. What did the lift cost??
    Do the 285/75r16 rub??
I would love to do this to my truck.

thanks!! I hope it will make it many more miles

the lift only cost me $200 (its a somewhat cheap lift from Rough Country) its all I could afford and am very happy with it. The ride is a little stiff, but nothing to bad

the 285's rub at full lock on the frame a tiny bit. I think they would have rubbed on the UCA if not for my 1/4" wheel spacers that I picked up for $10 at Wheelers. Other than a little rub, there is none, im very satitisfied with these tires and probably will buy this size again

    hopes this helps

Great job, the truck looks awesome.

FWIW, I think the wheels look better with the center caps.
