So about a week and a half ago I was in an accident and my 04 Honda CRV was totaled. Sucked but, hey I wanted a truck anyway, now it's going to be a few years sooner. Due to a bank loan against the CRV, total money has to go there.
My mom moved down here to VA from NH last year, has medical issues and can not drive her car anymore. She gives it to me, after some paperwork wrangling finally we sell her car and I have $9200 dollars to buy a truck.
Research (and a great episode of Top Gear) convinced me a used Tacoma was in my future.
More financial wrangling, and a day of ultimate frustration finally landed me a well used Tacoma 05 4x4 quad cab 156,000 miles. Oh and a busted tailgate, that I didn't notice until I got home. Hopefully I can find a new one to pop on.
I am happy with the purchase so far, tailgate notwithstanding. It was exactly what I was looking for and can't wait to see how it handles the snow next year.

Thanks. just did a ten minute fix, reattached the actuator arm and rednecked it in place with a twist tie. It is now functional and I learned that if I can purchase a tailgate shell, I can probably replace the innards myself.
