Anyone know how to program a transponder key on a 2014 Tacoma ? Toyota no longer gives a valet key along with two master keys, and I needed one to put into the brain of the remote start. They used to use the valet key, but as Toyota got cheap now I had to give him a master, leaving me with just one key. The stealership wanted $190 for a new key. I ordered a blank on the internet for $25, had it cut for $2 and now I need to have it programmed. Locksmith said they can do it for $60, but I wonder if I can do myself. Anyone know how to do this ? Also, will it bump out the one in the remote start brain ? Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me.:bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Too late now but I made a 3rd key part of my purchase agreement along with flipping tires. Of course this was after I got my target price.

Nope: You'll require software and a laptop to program the key itself. This adds to the 'list' of keys that will start the car.
The key FOB (opens the doors) can be programmed with other procedures but the computer requires Techstream interface to change the transponder list.
It's not all that expensive; plenty of deals for software and usb-to-dataport cable, to connect ot the data port (under steering column). But it will take a bit to learn the software.
Like others, I made a third key part of the purchase deal, and paid $125.00 extra to get it (cut and programmed)

Just picked up the cable and software from Amazon for less than $30. Make sure you install it on an XP laptop.

Did tech stream come out in 2011? My local hardware store will cut and program transponder key for around $50. But only pre 2011 for the tacoma

I bought a blank on ebay for $25, and a local lock smith store cut and programmed it for $60. Much cheaper than the stealership who wanted $190 for a spare key.
