I say it may even be someone pet dog. Not saying there hasnt ever been a dark variation of a fox or coyote but that thing is damn near black. Has fox ears and tail tho. Check out his tracks. A fox will often times place its back feet into the front foot prints.

My opinion was it was a little too big to be a fox. It completely covers the 25 lb block behind it and it's legs are pretty long for a fox. I feel like if it was a pet dog It woulda hung around longer sniffin. And the closest house to here is well over half mile. Its on an old slag dumb in the middle of the woods. I just cant seem to figure out exactly what it is.

That's what I'm thinking. You can kinda see a lighter colored patch of fur on its chest and a bit on its stomach too.

This is a bull moose I shot this past fall. The meat was excellent. It was about 110lbs/quarter. It took us two days to haul the thing out of the woods.

I have shot a silver (black) fox before, here in Alaska. While this looks very much like one, it is not. This is a dog. Silver fox have white tips to their tails, like all red fox (silver's are a color variation of the red). Also, this animal's coat is very sleek, lays back and low. This is not indicative of a fox coat in winter, a fox pelt is much more full/fluffy.

or maybe I am full of caca.

It looks alot more like a fox than a coyote, just seems a little big. But if I were putting money on it, I'd say its someones pet dog.

I grew up around friends and relatives that raised foxes. I would say it is a cross fox. Any red fox pair is capable of producing a blackish offspring. Doesn't happen often, but that's my educated guess.

Nice! I just bought a yak - delivered last week. Still too cold here for my taste, will be a week or two before I get it out.

I took a ride to MA two weekends ago for a little turkeyscouting, crow thumpin & last day of coyote. As you can see, the coyotepart paid out & I got to christen my Tacoma with a 46.5lb blonde malecoyote ;) My first set up on him I couldn’t get a clear shot. Second set I wasreally out of breath from running up a hill & was not comfortable taking over a 300yd shot. Went aroundto the back side of the field he ran into & I had 150yd shot which I missed  Still out of breath from the first run & trying to get a good set up for the 150yd shot. I quit smoking back in August after 30yrs &I still don’t have my wind back or in shape. Well good shape that is because I am plenty round &that’s a shape :D

Anyways, the coyote went back to original field heading forthe lower Connecticut River bottom filed & I got a good prone rest with thebi-pod set up. As he was totting along the hedgerow but he stopped for a quick look atus before dropping into the lower river bottom. That quick pause was a hugemistake for him because it gave me the 3 seconds needed to settle my crosshair& squeegee one off.

My T/C Venture 22-250 spitting a Winchester 55gr ballisticsilver tip dropped his ass on the snow right from under him! Ranged the shotat 260yd….by far, my farthest shot ever on a coyote. My taxidermists is doing me trapper cape & sending the skull out to Beetle Works.

Nice. I have a Field and Stream Eagle Talon 12 from Dick's. Got it very lightly used from CL for a steal. Overall a great kayak, other than the seat which will end up replaced sometime. (No support whatsoever)
