What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

I feel like most people go with Doug thorely headers from what I've seen. (probably spelled that wrong haha)..
I saw on trail gear there are some aftermarket headers that are CA legal. But I can't remember if it was for only the 2.7L or not.

 

Recharged the ac system today. Air coming out of the vents hasn't been that cold after getting my truck back from my accident. They replaced the condenser so I don't think they added enough R134. I had to redo my transmission cooler since they messed that up too. Pretty sad that people who fix cars for a living don't know how to do their job. Someone like me who has very little knowledge comes along and has to fix their fawk ups.

Checked the trans fluid on the dipstick and even with the fluid cold (truck has been sitting in the same spot and not turned on for over 12 hours) the fluid was dead center between the hot marks, I even triple checked to make sure.

 

Was it still red?

 

Yep, looked like cherry juice, but more oily.

 

Sounds like you're good on temps then.

But that doesn't many a transmission flush wouldn't help your issues.

I checked, and I have f/w 4.13. I just got it last year.

Maybe this will clear things up and point to why I have 0 temp:

 

Decided not to do a flush, just a drain and fill to make sure there's fresh fluid I'm there.

What's the difference between a manifold and headers

 

I actually found out a while back that my paint is called lavender steel metallic and it was only made for that year then I believe they changed the name to that.
But same difference right? I have grown to love that color; at first it pissed me off because I couldn't tell if my truck was blue or purple but now I know And I think it looks even better half covered in mud

Pacesetter?

Manifold are usually cast iron or form metal. Usually they do not flow well at all plus they are ugly. Headers are actual tube that is bent and welded in the configuration needed.

 

Is there gonna be any difference in sound

 

I think the headers would affect the sound.. Probably be louder/deeper. But I have never put headers on any of my vehicles so I'm not 100%
