manua loa is 2000 sq miles, if you include the entire system it's much larger, and has erupted in the last 200,000 years

we have hurricanes, which imo is the lowest of most natural disasters, thankfully no lava or earthquakes, barely get tornadoes

I've never actually seen a tornado. Been in one but it wasn't bad.

I want to see one. We were under a tornado warning for an hour while I was home. Went outside and watched the clouds swirl around. No tornado to see though... :(

tornadoes scare the crap out of me, people here freak out about hurricanes, but tornadoes are not only more destructive, but are far less predictable and can just pop up out of no where. Sure you get warnings, but that first funnel can form miles away or right on top of you. You can at least see a hurricane coming for days, and the wind is not bad, unless you live close enough to water to deal with the storm surge and floods you will be ok.

A hurricane over a dust storm? You realize youre comparing a natural disaster to a layer of dust right? We have dust storms all the time and I dont think anyone has ever died from it. This thread cracks me up

Our media blows dust storms way out of proportion, this is what usually happens in a dust storm, looks really dangerous huh

the dust storms in the 30's did a lot of damage, took out a lot of crops. And areas that have them tend to have them consistently, there are places that have very bad and violent sand storms that could bury your house. Being blasted by sand would hurt too. water will subside on its own, sand won't. Very bluntly, only idiots die in hurricanes, you can easily avoid it.
