    Hello,

I'm 28 years old, married with a 4 year old son and 2 year old little princes.(lol) Iv'e raced motocross for the last 17 years of my life, In 2005 I turned "pro". (biggest goal I ever achieved)

Now... I bought a Nissan Frontier in May of this year. It's a 2005 CC SE with 52K miles when I bought it. (CC= crew cab. 4 full doors)

To make a long story short. Two weeks after I bought it, It needed a rear diff. ($2500 w/o labor but still under warrenty) Then a week later the brake rotors turned. Then a month later it needed a trany ($4600 w/o labor, but still under warrenty) then a week later it needed a u-joint. Now the batt died this morrning. All this happend in LESS then 4 months, plus the trany and rear diff issues was like that when I bought it, it just took that long from the dealer not wanting to own up to it that it was broken.

I know the batt isn't Nissans fault, but enough is a enough. I will go to the dealer tonight after work to do battle. I either want my mony back, (so I can get a Toyota, or give me what I payed for it tords a diffrent Frontier.

My guess is they will tell me to piss off, which then I'll trade it in on a Toyota.

So the reason for saying all this....with out being biast, Is Toyota really that much better? I know my nissan is def faster, (265hp stock) but reliability is more importand. Is it like comparing ford to chevy? Or Yamaha to Honda? As in they all have there quorks?

    Any imput is apprecated.

    Welcome to TW!!!!

You may have gotten a lemon with the Nissan. I am sure you would be happy in a DC Sport or Offroad. Plenty of room for the family.

Without being biased, Yes toyota is that much better.

What is the equviant Toyota? I have the V6, full size frontier cab, short bed, 4X4 and its a SE. Which is the middle of the road. XE is the bottom and LE is the top.

Welcome to TW from Vermont
Lots of PA folks on here plus tons of loyal toyota truck enthusiasts! ;)

All I can say is I have owned a toyota truck since 1987 and have never, ever experienced a situation you just described.

I had 2 that went 175k w/ nothing more than normal maintenance. My 95 4x4 is still on the road w/ close to 300k (Another owner). Many other with stories just like that on here

Yeah the bodies rust up here in the Northeast but Toyota either buys them back @ 150% kbb or are now doing a complete frame replacement. What other mfg owns that?

You know what you want, you won't regret it in my opinion.

Yea, it sounds like the previous owner abused the hell out of it and skipped maintence... I've had nissan's before (hell have one now also), a few friends with nissans... never anything to really complain about reliablity wise that wasn't due to legit reasons that would happen to any car.

That said, the Tacoma thus far has been the most carefree vehicle I've owned yet. My dad's has like 85k on it and hasn't even done brake pads on it yet. If you want long term reliablity, look no further.

Also, have you test driven a 4.0L Tacoma? I swear, the butt dyno says it's quite a bit quicker. I suspect gearing ratios.

Any Double Cab with a V6 is the equivalent (you can even get a long bed). The SR5 package is all the fancy dancy trim (color match this and that) stuff with some interior improvements also. Best bet would be to go to toyota.com and build the one you want. It will give you all the available options and also help as a starting point.

I havent driven one yet, so I cant say other then what I read. I will be at the dealership tonight and see what they give me on trade in. If they give what I want... I won't even give Nissan a chance to make an offer, I'm so over my truck, the experiance has ruined it... and it was the first respectible vehical Ive ever owned. And it was nothing but hassle.

Sorry about your troubles, Jordo. It sounds like you just got a bad one. I've got a few friends with Frontiers and none have had any real problems with them. The Tacomas are better looking (IMO) and have a better reputation. If you decide to get another used truck, be sure to have it inspected by a third party. Good luck.

Thanks, It sounds like you guys are being truthful, Iv'e heard a couple time that your friends have them, with no real issues. So thanks for being un-bias. I am crossing my fingers that Toyota can buy me out. BTW how long is there warrenty? Nissan is 60K miles just on drive line. I'm 3K away from being "on my own".

Damn! You got me pegged!!!! I would like standard, but wifey has to drive it to, so auto is more practical.

Hey, where could I find pics of exactly what you just described...fj wheels and such?
