What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

It's possible but more than likely not noticeable.

 

Well here goes I'm about to start my bed bob.. Hopefully I can get my cbi bumper mounted too.

 

I know this is not the place to post but, I have a 96 2.7L 5 speed and it has a random misfire, and some times (most of the time) it is hesitant while accelerating, and some times just cruising. I had e3 plugs and swapped back to the ones I had before, still misses, took distributor cap off and contacts and rotor look good and no cracked cap. I know its not the gas because I used some from a different gas station and it still misses. I think it is from low compression, but have not tested it yet, It smokes but it don't use that much oil, I have plans to rebuild the engine around September, but the truck has to run goo enough for me to buy what I need to do it. I have 219111 miles. Help and advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time.

 

do a compression test.

 

It might be a injector going bad. I had a similar scenario where mine would out of the blue start misfiring. When it starts skipping take a long screw driver with the tip placed on the injector and put your ear to the handle. Do this for each one of the injectors. If one is bad it should be very obvious.

I'll try this thanks, I am going to try some fuel system cleaner and see if it helps. I plan to rebuild and do a stage 2 cam job and a turbo.

Not yet, I've looked into the glowshift, some bad reviews but most seem to be good and those that aren't seem to not have used then or just don't like them cause they're ricery. If not I'll most likely go with an auto meter. The reason I'm leaning toward the glowshift is it has the ability to set a warning when the temp reaches a certain point. With the auto meters it's gets pricey for that option.

This is what I have so far.. I took off work early just so I could get a head start haha.. I think I've made pretty good progress so far. One side of the frame is done already.

I think its because you are a '97.

My scangauge programmed with thes codes can read the temp data on my '02 but when I plug it into my buddy's '97 it could not read the temp data on it either.

EDIT: bender (DTF) is in the process of doing a full build on my truck, bumper to bumper cage, with 3 link rear and front race kit.

 

The cab cage has already been completed.

The dash tubes, gussets, and c-pillar link mounts have also been completed since this picture
