Maybe I was missing something, but I figured I was up for alot of fender trimming and rubbing according to online post. I had even removed my mud flaps thinking it was going to be bad, but no rubbing at all. I have a 2011 Prerunner TX Edition with a TSB springs on rear and 5100's @ 1.75". I even drove it as many possible ways though a pretty good size ditch with locker on and just barley took dust off plastic on inner fender didnt hear it in truck just seen a little shiny black. Pic's coming when its light out but putting it out there 285's with 1.75" worked great for me

Is that with the coils that add 1.6" of lift as well?

Interesting. I've seen folks here time and again say they've had to trim a ton to get them to fit. I've been considering going to 285's as well.

Crazy.. i have a full 3 inches of lift installed on my truck with the eibach springs, billies @ .85 setting and 1/2" spacer for the full 3" lift. I have 265/70/17's with 1.25" wheel spacers and after my new rims went on i had to trim part of the inner fender at the bottom (flare, not noticeable) and at certain points the tires would rub my cab mount. I got my cab mount chop done last week so no more rubbing on that but i did it mainly because i'm going to 33's. What is the actual tire height of your 285? Also the width

From the pic it looks like he running 285/75/16. I think wheel size is the difference.

The tire measures from ground to the top of tire 32.5"~. I even bought LT's that had more tread depth. About 10.5"~ wide

And it is 285/75/16, a 285/70/17 should be the same size

The 285 is the hight if the side wall:

    Section Width

Following the letter(s) that identify the type of vehicle and/or type of service for which the tire was designed, the three-digit numeric portion identifies the tire's "Section Width" (cross section) in millimeters.

    P225/50R16 91S

The 225 indicates this tire is 225 millimeters across from the widest point of its outer sidewall to the widest point of its inner sidewall when mounted and measured on a specified width wheel. This measurement is also referred to as the tire's section width. Because many people think of measurements in inches, the 225mm can be converted to inches by dividing the section width in millimeters by 25.4 (the number of millimeters per inch).

    225mm / 25.4 = 8.86"

    From: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tiretech/techpage.jsp?techid=46

So a larger wheel (17 vs 16) with the same side wall height will make the overall size larger.

Correct but most tires as the rim gets bigger the middle number gets smaller. A 285/75/16 is the same a 285/70/17. Im pretty sure they dont make a 285/75/17.

The middle number is tire width in mm.

    75 is the sidewall
    285 is the width

I wasn't arguing that point but you said the middle number is width , it is not

The first number is the width in mm. The second number is the percentage of the width that equals the height of the sidewall. That's why the second number is called aspect RATIO. Its a Percentage of the width. So 285mm across the tread, 75%of 285mm is how tall the sidewall is and its for a 16 inch wheel
