You know if you elope and she has a mother who is mad there was not a "traditional: ceremony things could get bad for you. ON the other hand I think it would be kinda cool to do.

Vegas, take lots of pictures, then come back and throw a huge informal party for everyone. If people want to feel included then take a video of your wedding and have it playing on a loop during the "reception" so people can see it if they choose.

Im getting married 3 weeks from yesterday...the average couple in the USA spends $28 grand getting married...I was trying to do it for 5 thousand...I have 175 people comming and it cost me almost 12 grand...and that was being frugal...eloping sounds real nice right about now

Seriously? Seriously? Tell your guests the party's canceled because you'd rather buy a house.

without being greedy, I am hoping the gifts offeset the cost of the reception. We lucked out on getting a photographer for free....on the other hand, my sister who is getting married a month after me is paying 4 grand for hers...

I'm doing mine on Friday on top of Pikes Peak. Total cost - about $500.

We'll do the real wedding next year. That'll be $7k easy from what we've calculated.

Congrats to all you guys getting married soon...

I'm also in that boat... however I'm not sure when it'll be yet. It was supposed to be a few months back but we postponed it. It was costing us (actually wedding... not airfare and accommodation) was coming up to about $2000.
