    Looking back, my budget for both buying the Tacoma and doing a 3 link (parts and shop labor included) is around $40k-$42k total.

    Would I be better off getting a first gen tacoma to make this 3 link mod fit within my budget?

    You could definitely have more for the swap with the 1st gen. I guess it all depends on how much you payed for the truck.

    Ahh well with 42 grand you can have a pretty bad ass truck no matter what gen you buy. Just dont go buying a 2014 then you will have plenty left over for the swap.

    Why does it have to be 2014 or 2004 and earlier? You're leaving out 10 years worth of trucks that are cheaper than a 2014 and newer than a first gen.

    Take it to Adam's High Rolling Customs in Sparks, NV. Give Adam a call and ask for a quote. They do swaps like this pretty frequently, definitely known for quality work, can't go wrong.
