So did some fairly major refurbishing on the leaf springs. They've definitely seen better days. A handful of the teflon slider pads were broken or missing. On top of that the remaining pucks were pretty much worthless. The pucks are really intended for street trucks. The pucks leave a gap between the leafs, and with trucks that see a lot of dirt miles, the pucks cause more problems than they resolve. My leafs were coated with dirt, grease, sand, and god knows what else and made it impossible for the leafs to slide gracefully.

So...I broke down the leaf packs completely and removed the remaining pucks. Wire wheeled and sanded every single leaf, top and bottom. Radiused and chamfered both ends of every leaf. Followed up with drowning each leaf with a quick dry aerosol moly lube. They slide like butter now.

The new changes along with the re-arch and extra leaf should work well with my truck. We'll see.

Didn't really take any pictures. Mostly done...just needs re-assembly and a coat of paint:

And the pile of shit that came off the leafs:

    Extra leaf eh? Sweet.

Shouldn't the lube be applied after paint?..

No. Paint between the leafs would just gum up, get stripped off and cause friction in between the leafs...exactly what I'm trying to avoid. Healthy dose of moly lube between the leafs and paint on the assembled pack.

I just picked up the same used leafs today Jason, the set I got had gear oil sand dirt and who knows what covered on them . I sprayed them with some degreaser hit em with the pressure washer! And paint and good as new. Alot easier than wire wheels lol .

LOL. Yeah a lot easier, but far from the same effect. Believe me...you can actually feel the leafs fighting movement. The leafs don't slide, they hop.

Pretty much. Read through and look at all the pictures in the article I sent over.

    Yeah it's a lot of work. Took me 8 hours...not including re-assembly.

No. The ride height had nothing to do with the chamfering/grinding. It was a result of the re-arch. You can see them stuffing them through the machine to change the arch..
