    Hey all
Went to bass pro and picked up 3 new fishing rods and some accessories.
Been 20 years since I bought my boat and had original fishing gear.
Caught 5 rods over the years and they were in the boat along with spare rods and reels. So when i go out this year I'll have 6 rods in the boat instead of 12.
The only disappointing thing is I got Bill Dance Quantum's. they felt great and what I wanted for action.
Got them home and started to spool them up when I noticed they were made in china. Dam it.... I thought Bill was a all American guy.
    Oh well...
Bought some new fishing line and spooled one rod up and pulled it back off and threw the cramp away. Broke 3 times attaching the line to the reel. Did not like how the junk tied to the lure.
So I'll go back to my ol reliable line.
Boat is out and airing out. Will swap equipment and get it running this week.
    Still to dam cold.....

Making solid progress to fishing season.

I'd comment on the China part ... But decided to avoid the rant. ;)

Sounds like the rake needed to stay with Mitch and you need to buy a nicer rake. ;)

Good morning all. My side still feels a little sore so it will be light stretching and 45 min on the recumbent bike at the gym this morning. I do have an appointment with the Chiropractor at 10:15. :D

Need to do some light pond work and pick up a spare car from my sister today. Going to detail the Tacoma this week. Normally this is not an issue but there is a point where I have to let the coating dry for 24 hours.

    Going to try this product.
    http://www.carpro-us.com/cquartz-uk-edition-30ml-kit-w-reload/

I will probably do a review of the product and post it somewhere on the forum.

See, this is why I hang out around you guys.

 Morning Tom. Hope the side feels better soon. I hate it when the lug nuts are over-tightened like that. Leads to broken lugs too.

I got the back yard cleaned up yesterday. Will de-thatch the front today.

Have a great day everybody. :)

    Morning all:
Good read on those guys getting back together.

Everyone sure sounds busy! Don't you just love spring. :D

Lug nuts: Yea; I posted awhile back about the tire place that over torqued mine, and broke a stud. :(
Sorry to hear about the back Tom.

Nice looking boat John. Too big for the Delaware River though! :)
I NEED A JET, been looking around. The shad are running now, and Walleyes should be hitting. Not as big as tuna, but fun to catch.

Mike; what line did you have a problem with? Maby old stock, or a bad batch. I also seem to be going back to my old reliable-STREN. I've tried different lines over the years; some are decent, some are not so good. Tried Fireline one night and took it off the next day; too many wind knots when casting lures! I do like Power Pro braid, very strong and casts well but there's no stretch. Never really had trouble with Trilene XT either, but prefer the Stren.

Back is doing much better now. The doc fixed me up. Finished all the items I did not get to yesterday. Waiting in line to pick my son up from school now.

G'Day! My getting ready to fish will have to wait till after Wed when turkey season is over in Alabama. My buddy and I had a big gobbler in play this morning but we determined he "henned up" before he came to us for a visit. Talk about a situation where your sex drive will get you in trouble! Have any of you ever hunted turkey?

There is nothing better in my book than having the woods wake up around you at sunrise while you sit there motionless in full camouflage and watch it happen. I had a squirrel sit on a branch 6 feet in front of my face this morning staring into my face for about three minutes while trying to decide what he was looking at. Another morning a hawk took a male cardinal off of a branch behind me and ate the whole thing just to the right/front of me.

Anyway, I got my 94 truck to be a firewood and primarily hunting rig. I am in the process of predator and varmint control on several parcels of land where a whole slew of raccoon, coyotes, feral pigs, opossum and the occasional armadillo are eating crops and/or pressuring the deer and turkey populations.

    Evening all:
Come on Bill; those turkeys are easy to hunt, 1 cluck and they come running in!
I was busting Jims butt about that also! :D

I've been pretty successful hunting them. I think there was only 1 year that I didn't get a spring gobbler. Our season is just opening this coming Sat.
Just a reminder!!!!!! There's also a bearded hen running around, but haven't got a chance to get a pic. of her.

Jets are cool but you lose about 10 to15% so a 40 jet is really a 50.

The line I spooled was stren thin 10 pound. Suppose to be the same strength but thinner.
So I went back and got my std stren 12 pound blue clear and spooled 250 feet on my new rods.

My flipping rig is a 6'6" with a bait caster spooled in spider wire.

My ultra lite is spooled with 6 or 8 pound stren blue clear.
Serves me right for trying something fancy.

So my wife is out of town with our grandson and I see I have this empty front bumper. Have any of you who go off road felt the need for a winch? There is one close by on sale that is calling my name this morning. Here is my bumper which I think could have a winch plate bolted to it and then a 9000 lb winch and it would not look so naked....

Your thoughts? Feel free to talk me out of it as I said my wife is out of town.... I may never get stuck with my current set up. I tried and was not able to be stopped. I drive in the woods all the time.

A winch is like insurance, if you don't have it when you need it, it'll be too late to get it.

I don't off road my truck because I have ATVs for hunting and so forth. I consider a winch a necessity on them.

Unless you always have another truck along when you go off road, I think a winch would be a sound investment. My 2 cents.

    Truck is looking great BTW!

    Good morning All!

Starting the detail today. I need to fix a couple of bad marks in the tailgate. A well meaning parishioner put a metal wheelbarrow under the tailgate so no mulch would fall on the ground. Lets see if I can remove the marks and how long it will take. Would only take a minute to scoop the mulch up off the ground.

 Just read something interesting about a Oldsmobile cutlass "Jetfire".
The article said there are only 10-20 of them left in the world. I knew a guy that had one of them. He got rid of his Edsel convertible when he got the cutlass.
He was a little hunchbacked guy that could barley see over the steering wheel of the Edsel. He passed away quite awhile ago and was a pretty good guy. Wonder if that cutlass is still around.

Using a Rupes Bigfoot with a blue microfiber pad and my old faithful, Mezerna SIP polish, I was able to remove the defects along with a minor scratch in the panel. The tailgate had the most damage. I am going to switch over to Mezerna Micro polish for the first pass on the rest of the Tacoma.

I am happy with the polis job. Enough for today. Tonight I have a class then it is on to a wipe down tomorrow and the first coat of the cquartz product.

What looks like a scratch in the photo is just some polish.
