Just discovered the BS thread for AZ. Picked my tacoma up about 3 weeks ago, and have fallen in love with this thing. I did some pm (trans flush, diff fluid change) and threw some new tires on it. BF AT's 31x10.5x15. Bone stock, and don't have any money for serious upgrades yet. But plan on adding Bilstein 5100's and 5215's in the rear. With how my truck sits now, how much playing can I do off road, and still be okay?

Bikes are damn expensive! I'm actually really into mountain bikes and have well over triple that price in each of my bikes.... why do I have to have such expensive hobbies!!!

My buddy does the skinny tire speed bikes that you wear spandex to ride them. His carbon fiber whatever the hell it is set him back $5500. $2300 for a bike like this with a motor seems fair to me.

So I think I'm going to be replacing my master cylinder... my brakes have been feeling really soft. I have bled my brakes like 4 times. When I do it they feel better for maybe a mile or two if I'm lucky. There isn't any external loss of fluid. From what I've read it could be a internal leak and some seals that aren't holding pressure.
    I don't really know though. Any input/advice?

If they feel good for a couple presses and then get soft, check your abs module. Mine had an internal leak and it was causing the same issue. It was about 1300 to get fixed. Turns out it was under warranty and luckily Toyota reimbursed me.

It looks like you should be fine. I would think 31's wouldn't rub too much on a first gen... but I'm far from a 1st gen expert. You can cycle the suspension and see if you're going to have clearing issues and chop plastics and metal accordingly ;)

I just built up a new carbon fiber trail bike, a yeti sb66c

And I also have a downhill bike that I did a custom build on as well.. But this will be my third season on her so it'll be time for a new one once the one I want is available

One of the reasons I dipped out. Was tired of paying 100 bones for a derailleur every other week, cant justify spending more on a pedal bike then I did when I rode dirt bikes. Would like to build a motoped though, with pegs and enter a single track hair scramble. Bet I could kill with a an 125 smoker strapped under it.

They only felt decent for a mile or two after I got done bleeding the brakes. Now I need to pump them 1 or 2 times before they get a little more firm.

Was your truck still under warranty when they reimbursed you? Or how did that work?

I had the same issue but wasn not due to a leak, was air in the ABS had to bleed my brakes over a span of a 30 minutes before it finally worked the air out.

So you just kept bleeding the brakes until you saw air? I have almost gone through a whole big bottle of brake fluid by now although it wasn't all at the same time.

Yeah, went through a whole damn bottle. Worked the air stuck in the rotors and drums. You have to do it whilst its running to work it out of the ABS distribution block/control module.

I will have to try that before I spend a bunch of money on something I don't need.
    Thanks.
