Skip the morgan building and buy a refer shipping container. You can build out your shop just the way you want it, and you can call the moving company when you're ready to bug out.

I have a 40' refer sitting at my folks place in Alvin. :D

Make sure it's a high cube as well. Mine has a 9' interior height and it's 8'-0" wide. Lots of space to build out your tool storage and plenty of room for workbenches.

When I bought mine I traded the refer unit for the carpentry work to close in the open end. That way I had a regular door, and didn't have to use the double doors on the end every time I wanted to get into it.

I also painted it the same color as the house so it wouldn't stand out so much.

Did I mention that the shipping containers are cheaper than the morgan buildings. They're practically bomb proof as well.

I've graduated from spending Colin's money to now spending Craig's money.

Try and find one of the refrigerated units. They have between 4 and 6 inches of insulation all the way around. Put a small window unit in the end where you built the wall and you'll be good.

Oh, and you'll only find used ones.

The going rate for used non-insulated is around $1500 and the refers are around $5000.

Price out a Morgan Building with the same square footage and you'll see the refer is the way to go.

You could even tack some siding on the sides and frame out a roof if you planned on not moving it for a while

At some point in the future I want to pick up a second container and set it next to the existing one. Set it about 15' away from the existing one and build a pitch roof to span over both of them. That way I would have a ton of interior storage/work area and outside covered work space.

Got back yesterday from a 4 day trip to the 9th annual Lonestar Toyota Jamboree.

It was a Toyota only event at Barnwell Mountain Offroad Vehicle Park. Not sure of the exact count, but there were just over 200 vehicle in attendance. majority were FJCs, then 4-runners and LCs, and then Tacomas/other trucks. even had a couple of buggies.

wheeling was great, as well as the company. Got to meet Jason Domello, The owner of U. S. Offroad, and camped next to the rep for Toytec. Name was Miles. great guy. brought his family and towed the toytec toyhauler with his FJC all of the way from Colorado. Also got to see a couple of the Marlin Crawler trucks.

Only carnage i had was the desintegration of the internnals of my passenger drum brake. not sure if the failure had anything to do with wheeling, or if it was just a coincidence. stock rear breaks at almost 80k, i think it was probably just it's time to go . glad it failed out wheeling, and not on the highway thoguh. because of how it failed, we had a hell of a time just getting the drum off. ended up having to cut it off with a grinder. ended up jsut taking the internals out, reassembling, and then cutting/plugging the line to that wheel. drove home with 3 brakes.

overall a great trip. i'm sure pictures and videos will flow in over the next couple of days....

for now, a group shot. this was about 3/4 of the group for the weekend.
