    Quick question.

    Are those 265/75r16s?

Or something close to the equivalent of a 31x10.5r15?

Edit: nvm - saw post 19 that says 265/70

I ask because I'm staying on 31x10.5 r15s and am about to put on an OME 881 lift with Dakars + AAL

I'm psyched as all get out, but a little worried about wheel well gap.

That pic of yours that I quoted looks totally fine and even has a bigger lift than what I will have.

So... I've been thinking about paint, there's lots of little rust spots on the truck that don't really look very good IMO. They're all small, and pretty insignificant, but they're there, and they bother me.

I like the dirt color of the Taco gold, so, this is one thought idea... Krylon Camo ultra flat sand, perhaps with a satin clear coat on top to seal it?

There's also orange. I've always had an appreciation for burnt oranges, especially on vehicles with strong black accents, like bumpers and wheels.. Duplicolor has their Hugger Orange, and a metallic burnt orange, they might be similar to this. definitely a unique taco color...

    Thoughts?
I've also considered a sort of battleship grey, saw a wrangler rolling through town today that was bedlined grey that looked really slick.

Nice! It should look great, one of my coworkers did that same setup and is running 31's, it looks really solid! I'm happy with how the truck looks with 285's on there now, but I need to put some work into the front end and do some trimming so it'll stop rubbing during tight turns.

Would you be doing the paint yourself or having it (no offense intended) professionally done?

I think all three of those colors would look badass. IMHO I'd go with more of a burnt orange than in that pic if you want to go orange.

In order of what I think would look the most badass:

    1. Battleship gray
    2. Flat sand
    3. Magnetic gray metallic (2nd gen color)
    4. burnt orange

Picked up something sweet this evening.

A customer of the shop's came by in his Dodge the other day, he has a Softopper on the Dodge, and I hadn't gotten a close look at one ever, so I asked him some questions and we got to talking about the Taco, he just so happened to have a Softopper kicking around from his 94 pickup. Tonight we checked the fit and boom - perfect!

Screaming deal. Not sure yet how this will effect my rack/cargo scheme and ideas, but I couldn't pass up the price.

    coming along nicely bro. subbed.

I went with a DIY spray paint job. It didn't come out too bad and i didn't even clear coat it. If you do anything other than black you kind of need to clear coat though because it will get sun damaged if you don't (i think).
I used Montana Spray paint. little pricey but the best spray paint I could find. Also they have the best color selection out there IMO.

In order of what i like:
    1. Flat sand (i really like flat colors..)
    2. Battle ship gray
    3. Burnt Orange
    4. Magnetic gray

Not sure if you have ever painted a vehicle or not ( it was my first time when i did it..) But make sure you take as much time as possible for prep. Prep is 95% of the work.

Didn't even consider that.. but he is right! x3..

x2. I think Flat Sand would look freaking amazing with the soft topper!

I've never painted a vehicle, but I've done various other painting and know the importance of prep, as well as proper application and post treatment. My plan is to remove the existing clear coat, clean thoroughly, apply many thin coats to get a high, even build of paint across all panels, let it cure, wetsand with high grit paper to even everything out, then once it's fully cured, follow up with a few smooth light coats of a satin clear, wetsand and more coats of clear, then polish.

Now with the softopper... Flat tan must happen.

Hey Tribull, I should have a spare tire tool available before long if you're still in need of one.
