no its rediculous to be sentencing people to death nowadays. how many people get let out after 40 years or 20 year after being wrongly accused.

 

NAY and here's ^^^ another good reason.

 

extend the death penalty for slow left-lane drivers enforceable by citizens on the roadside

 

and to people who still insist on manually writing out checks at walmart

 

I don't trust prosecutors 100%. There are way too many examples of over zealous prosecutors ignoring, suppressing, or otherwise subverting evidence that would help the accused. When a prosecutor is more interested in his next election I struggle with giving them the ability to take someones life.

I'm fine with the bad guys rotting in prison, but in my mind I can't justify the killing of an innocent man, even if that means guilty men live life in prison. My job requires me to work in the state prison from time to time. Believe me, what you see on TV is nothing like being there in real life. There are worse places to be than in a casket.

 

All I know is, If someone killed my wife/child, i would want nothing less then death, so If its good enough for me, then by all means I say YES to the death penalty.

 

That doesn't happen with modern convictions - maybe the ones 40 years ago before DNA and such...

 

There needs to be an express pass for certain people!!! Screw this 15 years on death row crap.

 

Yup...and I say hang 'em . Rope is cheap and re-usable. You get your trial,and your appeals..then out the the rope you go.

 

Yes but with 100% concrete evidence. too often now you here about people getting exonerated years later after new evidence is found. (Damion echols/west memphis 3 come to mind)
I also agree with the above statement about issues with prosecutors.

 

Does " though shalt not kill " not apply ?

 

IMO ... Whether or not the death penalty is used should be and is an issue for each state to decide. The appeal process in the US is a joke and is what should be changed and streamlined.
