I ordered some 3/16" thick rubber sheet from grainger to make mine. Took a few days to come in and wasn't especially cheap ($30ish) Looks average.

No they don't like it when you show up without an appointment. You call and make an appointment, which I have in 2 months. But they keep telling me the fastest way is to talk to the inspector so he can fit me in. Only takes 5 minutes to add my bumper to the permit.

Bad News.....friend took his str8 axle toy to get recon'd and they failed him! Any alterations to the frame will fail. Even if done by a pro. Good News..4WP's lawyers are getting involved because its hurting their business. FYI.

Does 4wp do str8 conversions? Thought it would more of a DH kind of thing...

Probably why we are seeing the more than average number of Str8 tacomas on CL.

I'll take some pics of how much it sticks out. Haven't take much pictures yet, as I have to finish out the front UCA's and still waiting on my extra leaf from OME, though here's a preview.

I went to Home Depot, as it was mentioned in another post, but I couldn't find anything. Will try Grainger though, just really looking for something to pass recon, but if I can find something better, might as well do it right the first time. Thanks.

I just got mud flaps from napa and modified them for my jeep. Napa Mapunapuna location should have, most of the others stores won't stock it.

Don't know what to tell you, but my friend just passed with a 90s pickup with sas (leaf spring). He did remove his 3" body, went down to a 1" body, and put on tires that fit under the flares.
Wonder if the attitude makes a difference? Maybe a box of manapuas would help too!

So glad that mine is over and done with.

I doubt any of you remember or know the car that this came off of. Must have been early 2000s. At one car show, he had all the tickets lined up across the whole dashboard.

If they did I wouldn't have them do it anyway, but more for the parts that they are selling for such lifts...but its good to know some heavy hitters are trying to stop the b.s!

Me neither...maybe luck and attitude...but still bunch of bs! If its done right , give him the sticker! Just like the super motards, why say no more!?! Just stupid......

Not sure what post you were referring to, but I know HD was mentioned for the garden edging for the flares (if needed)..

Do you need flares or flaps? I got my flaps from checkers..

I don't really know if that's a good idea, 4WP might screw that up too! We might end up with smog checks after they're done!

Tell me about it... I don't see any credentials as to how the inspectors are certified in any way to tell the difference in safe and unsafe vehicles.

And I wish for a street legal mini. A fiddy or KLX 110 would be a blast around town! Guys that already have em legal are asking big money...
That's a whole other issue in itself.

Do you guys remember the brand/name of what you bought?

I was referring to the post about making custom mudflaps. I need flaps to pass recon, as I don't think I need flares, but what do you guys think? I remember people saying as long as the tread that meets the ground is covered by the fender, allowing the wheel to stick out a little. Thoughts? I tried to take pics as vertical as possible. Tires are 285's.

Do you guys remember the brand/name of what you bought? Will I still need to do some modifying?

That's so minor. No need flares, and shouldn't need flaps either. Mine passed with 285s sticking out further than that.

But if you want I be safe, they have loose flaps, don't even know of they have a brand name on them. Just call and ask, cut to fit and bolt them on.

Did you have the stock flaps on yours? I don't think it need flares, planning on going without them. I just don't want to fail only on some stupid flaps that didn't cover just a tiny bit of the wheels.

Appointment is next Friday, will let you guys know then.

Yea.. definitely no need flares.. Shouldn't need flaps, but with them being more picky, may need.. PM me your cell.. I have info and pics I can send you that I sent someone else..

Checkers has (the brand) "Road Sport" flaps. There are a couple different sizes, but I got some that pass recon and have pics of the measurements..
