definitely better to have it done!! hell, mine bottomed out going over speed bumps.......so the tsb was worlds different.....good of course!

no, not at all. the springs are basically too weak to handle loads and such, so they bottom out on the bump stops on the frames. with the new springs......they can hold weight alot better and the bottoming out doesnt really happen anymore. plus......with the old springs, my truck had alot of axle wrap, that went away with the new springs!

kinda like when you go to take off, and it feels like the axle wants to move on its own, like its trying to come forward more that the truck is moving. if that makes any sense(i kinda explain things weird sometimes).

 

so its really worth it? im still alittle iffy about doing this

 

well if thats the case i better just leave it be. i might do it in the future. how did u bottom out? like what did u have in ur bed?

 

if you ever plan on hauling anything in your bed.....and actually a better ride,as far as im concerned.....i say yes, definitely!!

i have learned that the parts department at the dealership are pretty cool, i have a guy asigned to take care of my truck at the dealer ship and i could jsut tell him about the tsb or lie that it bottomed out or asked him to do it becuase he has a taco too so maybe he will do the same to his truck

 

i really dont think you understand what the tsb means. A "recall" is when toyota realizes there is a MAJOR problem that either concerns safety or such a large defect it would blemish toyotas name. when that happens, toytota issues a recall no matter what the age of the vehicle or warranty situation. a TSB (technical service bulletin) is when toyota says "hey look, we have had some complaints about this specific issue, we're gonna send a solution to the dealerships, and if a customer complains, the dealership can fix it and we will reimburse them." The issue is not severe enough or dangerous enough to warrant a full recall, but its big enough for toyota to admit there is a problem and they will fix it for free AS LONG AS ITS UNDER WARRANTY. thats one of the major differences between a recall and a tsb, is a recall can be anytime, the tsb is only done if you are still under warranty. with the suspension TSB toyota is saying "hey, we sold you a truck with springs in the back that are too weak to handle the load we said it could, so we're UPGRADING (thats right, this is an upgrade, it wont "bust" your truck) your truck for free" the TSB is a good thing. without it, your truck cant haul the amount of weight that it is suppose to. Why would your parents care if you took your truck in for a free upgrade? would they be mad if you took your computer in for a software upgrade? you dont actually have to load up your bed either. jsut go up there and say it bottoms out alot on big bumps with an empty bed and when you have just a couple hundred pounds in it on ALL bumps. they should take your word for it.

 

Your right. my parents would not be mad if i got a free upgrade. i told my dad and he thinks its a good idea to do that. i could probably make the bumpstops hit because i tried the other day and i swear i was close, i just need some more weight to bounce in the bed to make the bumpstops hit. but if i do bottom out i should hear "a malet hitting the bed noise"?

yeah.....that exact one man. and,hell yeah....had mine done and i love it!!! way better ride now, no axle wrap, and no bottoming out going over speed bumps either. just get it done......trust me, you'll like it!!
