alright, I'll give it a shot. I'll go ahead and schedule appointment so they'll know what's coming lol. Also they added another leaf spring making your truck sits higher? What if I want to lower my sometime in the future?
Though I'm curious do you have or feel a "thump/thud" coming from your rear end?

extremely dumb question...but what's the oldest year or highest mileage that they will perform TSB work on? Example, mine is a 2006 with 150k.

It states covered under power train 60 months or 60,000 miles from first in service date
The leaf spring and steering wheel damper is under the basic 36 months or 36,000 miles from first in service date.

Can some of you with the TSB done look at the caster wedges and see if the fat end is pointed towards the front or rear?

Don't understand why this only applies to the 5AT, but guess it's because the fix for 6MT (mount) would be different based upon tranny.

I plan on making up an appointment to my dealer first (on-line) and ask about the angle measurement equipment. It's a smaller dealer and I'm worried they don't do much in truck sales, and will try to avoid or play ignorant. I'll 'introduce' them to the TSB on line, and even drop off a copy if they need it.:D

Vibe is exactly 20mph, steering has that 'shake' only at that speed, etc.

In my case the vib is felt most with the gas tank low and (believe it or not) the spare tire so the valve stem is up. (I flipped it so the valve was available to air it and - surprise- the vibe lessened". ) So I'll flip it over just as it was delivered to max their 'test drive' confirmation.

Thanks for checking. I'm trying to use this TSB as a guideline to pick the proper shims. I have minor take off shudder now but I'm going to install Icon 3 leaf AAL soon and I think it will make the take off shudder worst.

I took it in yesterday early in the freaking morning. Consult with the service writer about my rear end thunk/thud noise & the vibration between 15-30mph. He's fully aware of the common problem on the Tacoma.
An hour later, I received a phone call that the truck was finished. I was like WTF....
Came back to the dealer, service writer was nowhere to be found. I picked up my keys & invoice at the cashier.
Apparently, the technician was unable to duplicate the problem. I noticed on my invoice, it have the same odometer reading coming in & coming out.
So, jumping to conclusions....the service writer didn't do a damn thing.

It seems that some dealers, even knowing about the problem AND the TSB, are reluctant to do the work. As I was told, "the TSB may not fully fix the problem, but will improve (reduce) the vibration issue".

    What's going on Toyota?

Toyota techs will not say 'this will fix the problem' because the statement they have to make is 'it may improve the vibrations'. No one will say they will be eliminated, that is unrealistic. All trucks have some vibration, but you shouldn't notice it. Mine is fixed because the vibrations I am left with are essentially zero, the same as any rwd vehicle by any manufacturer. It is smooth as silk...and as time goes on and the carrier bearing and transmission mount wear, it might vibrate a tiny bit as the vehicle ages. But the TSB itself is not a guarantee, but the best thing Toyota can do at this stage. It will work for the 15-25mph vibe because this new 0008-14 TSB is now measuring prop angles whereas the previous one did not.

You need to leave your skepticism aside and go get the TSB done if your own description and reproduction of the issue fits the symptoms of the TSB.

Toyota is not out to screw anyone but this has been a hard issue for Toyota to nail down, and they threw over $1300.00 in parts and labor into my truck for free (just inconvenience) so trying to say Toyota is 'the bad guy' is pretty harsh when it is clear they are trying.

Your local dealer service is another story...they've been burned by trying to fix this in the past and having to undo changes, or suck it up and throw in a useless steering damper and shrug...well now they have a brand new TSB and they may be shy to try it based on getting the stink eye from customers for the first failed TSB.

One thing that does suck is a possible $75-$100 oversight. The TSB does not state do a front end alignment if the ride height changes. It should be part of the TSB. My ride height changed >1 inch in back, as well as a sliver of a degree of thrust angle (go change any leaf springs and I bet you will change thrust angle by an RCH, it is unavoidable unless you measure it yourself and nudge the axle perfectly in spec while u-bolts are loose...and then when you crank them down it will change again) and my front end alignment (toe mostly) changed a wee bit and my steering wheel was a hair off center...I got a front end alignment after this on my own dime.

I complained about the vibration right after I purchased my Tacoma, but it was a week or two after the original TSB expired. I called the dealership a few days ago with the new TSB numbers and made an appointment to come in as he said they had to verify the issue. I showed up and the service manager had already ordered the parts and gave me a loaner as he planned on performing the work right away. He said that he saw that a technician had confirmed the vibration a few months before and felt confident the TSB was applicable.

After the work was done the vibration is gone. The truck feels like it rides much smoother now than it did before, it is a remarkable difference in ride quality. The only thing I noticed is the steering wheel is slightly off center to the right. I will take it back soon to have an alignment done to fix the issue.

Now that the ride quality is better, they created a new issue which is a bad cab vibration as well as steering wheel and accelerator pedal vibration. Toyota tech rep comeing out to take a look. Apparently its a known issue with this TSB.

So, I have an appointment on Monday to have the TSB work done, but I have a question. There are two different TSB's out for driveline vibration, T-SB-0249-12 and T-SB-0008-14. Which of these is the one to get done? The 0008-14 has A LOT more steps to the fix.

T-SB-0249-12 is the old TSB, and has been replaced by T-SB-0008-14, which addresses the rear pinion flange angle.

I have 2012 DCLB sport and i got my driveshaft replaced at 58000.
It was pretty funny. They didn't want to replace it because after they test drove it they said it was normal. I told them this isn't normal bc it didnt happened 59000miles ago (when it was new). they were asking me if i want to have Toyota field tech inspect it, they come out every Tuesday. I said why not?? and asked for loaner car lol. they said no. so i decided to take the car and drop it off on monday night bc i use my car for work. I was waiting to pick up my car suddenly guy came up and i got a loaner car ("new 2014 collora") and found the problem from TSB. i said F collora i want truckkkkk. they said no again lol. anyways i got it replaced and the problem was gone. but it shifts pretty rough from 1 to 2 gear (automatic)
does anyone have this problem toyota says its normal characteristic for this vehicle ??
So my thing is you just have to a be bitch at some dealers which sucks... =[[[

I am confused about something. Since Toyota puts the caster wedges the fat end facing the front side, that would tilt the pinion down. However I thought you're supposed to tilt the pinion up to reduce the pinion angle, so the fat end of the wedge should pointing back.

you mean the Toyota way is the correct way? (fat end facing front thus tilting the pinion down)
