After an all dumbbells chest workout yesterday, I'm sore as shit! Mostly in my outer/upper chest, where the pec rests beside the delt, but also everywhere else. Never underestimate the power of a good dumbbell workout!

    - Kodiak has a much higher metabolism than the average joe....you, however don't...that's not an insult by any means...I'm not saying you do this, but many manyyy newer guys follow some magazine diet b/c they see how 'jacked' he/she looks.. What they fail to understand is, is everyone has a different BMR...so what works for him/her may not work for them.

-I disagree with the crap and alcohol diet for a day...that's two steps forward and one step back..you are sabotaging the work you just did....I'm all about moderation meaning one crap meal a week, and maybe a drink or two (although it's rare do I drink)..but a whole day of this? No...I am willing you could excel your results much quicker if you kept this down to one meal opposed to one day..

What are you using to measure bf? Measuring same time? First thing am?
Here's my opinion on BF....it's not always accurate (unless u do one of those pods were they dunk u under water) why? Well I may have very low % of bf on my arms, and quads, but a little higher in the abdomen (men store their testosterone in the lower abdomen area...)
Personally-I go by the mirror..the mirror shows you the real deal, right?

    Just my .02...or .03 :)

I've got a fairly high metabolism, as well, but I don't think it's as high as his lol. When I was dirty bulking a few years ago, it was much faster and I ate and drank whatever I wanted and didn't gain much fat. Now that I'm 25, my metabolism has slowed a little. I can still get away with cheating every now and then, but nothing like I used to.

I know my whole cheat day isn't that great of an idea :anonymous: I usually have 1 bad day every couple weeks. I'll either eat bad or drink bad, I rarely do both together. But, I do need to probably stop a whole day of cheating, since I'm approaching the single digit bf levels. So far, as long I stay 90% committed to my cutting diet, I yield results, but now that I'm getting to the last bits of fat, I'm probably going to have to tighten up the diet a little. That being said, it's not that bad. 6 days of 100% strict and 1 day of about 60% strict won't be incredibly hard to correct. Usually on Saturday's, I'll either have Subway and fried fish, or 4-5 whisky and waters or Michelob Ultra's....nothing too severe, but it's certainly not helping lol

I use one of the digital things that I know aren't 100% correct, but I do 3 readings each time, first thing in the morning and average the 3; that takes some of the error out of it. But, like you said with the mirror: that's where I'm really seeing the reduction. I've gone from a size 36 to back into my 32's. Also, I'm starting to get some mad vascularity in my biceps and shoulders, something that begins to disappear at ~13-14% bf for me...Still not repping a 6-pack yet, more like 4ish lol

I'm 28, almost 29. I rarely drink alcohol, pizza is a staple in my diet and I do numerous metabolic conditioning workouts. The conditioning workouts keep the body burning fat throughout the day.

You can't puss out though. You keep saying dirty bulk this and that and then you feel fat after waffle house and that you feel fat when you don't work out for three days.

The since simple solution is: workout more, and don't eat at waffle house.

I get this feeling from your posts that you wanna cut and your main concern is how you diet over how you lift. You spend more time discussing what you're eating how you're diet makes you feel and how much dirty bulking did for you and not nearly enough time training.

Get your ass in the gym and lift. That's all there is to it. Of course your diet will help you see results but not if you don't put in the damn work. Lift! As often and as much as you humanly can, your survival depends on it.

I think my lack of any sort of conditioning is what keeps me from being able to eat what I want. I'd rather eat strict and not have to do it lol. I lift as much as I can. Working 40 hours a week and going to school full-time, my time is limited. I get in at least 5 hours of gym time a week, no matter if it's on Mon, Wed, Fri or Mon, Wed, Fri, and Sat, it's going to be around 5 hours of lifting. Would I like to do more, sure? Would more be better? Sure. But with my schedule, 5 hours is about all I can fit in and I get results from it. I do believe diet is more important than lifting. I'm not saying lifting isn't as important, but you can diet and not lift and look good. The opposite is harder to do. You can workout everyday, but if you're only eating 1000 calories a day, nothing's gonna happen. I'm not saying lifting isn't important! Hell, I work at a gym, so of course I think it's important! Do I think 2 hour lifting sessions, 7 days a week is needed? No. Lift enough to be able to eat what you want. For me, if I follow my cutting diet and lift ~5 hours a week, I get the results I want. As far as dirty bulking goes, it worked for me when I was skinny as a rail, but now that I've put on some mass (muscle, as well as fat), dirty bulking isn't ideal for me because I simply don't burn enough calories to justify it: I'd just get fat. That's why I clean bulk now. I still lift 4-5 hours a week and only eat ~500 calories over my maintenance and gain lean mass.

On both a bulk and a cut, I cheat (way more on bulks). I know that eating Waffle House ins't good for me because I don't burn enough calories to be able to eat it. That's why I eat Waffle House once every two to three years lol.

I'm only 28...5'7 185 and growing with abs...not ripped- but visible..
Unless you've been over dieting, over training, etc your levels should be fine...

Even when bulking, my abs are visible, but I'm to the point where I'm tired of them, as well as other muscles, not being as visible as I want them. Hence the reason I'm cutting.

Moral of the dieting story and to try and venture off from the great debates of the past 5 pages:

There's more than 1 way to get from point A to point B.

Should we start taking bets on when Zach is going to quit cutting and start bulking again?

Ha. Usually my cuts last a week before I say, "Fuck this shit. I need gainz!" I've been on this cut for 8-9 weeks and have only had 1 or 2 meltdowns lol. I've just gotten to the point where'd I rather lose a little strength and size to be more ripped. 0 fucks given....well maybe 1 or 2

    Lift to eat? No...no...no.

I work 50 hour weeks, plus overtime, sometimes putting in 240+ hours a month. I workout around 5-6 days a week 1-1.5 hours a day. And I'm going to school. You're damn fucking lucky to work at a gym!!!
