Okay so I purchased my new 2014 Tacoma about a week ago from Boch Toyota in Norwood, Massachusetts and it didn't come with a backup camera from the factory but I wanted the factory camera and I was assured by the sales people at the dealership that they could install the factory camera in the truck before it was delivered to me. When I received the truck it had an aftermarket camera installed and it was one of those cheap license plate mounted plates which I absolutely did not want which is why I opted to pay the $530 extra to the dealership to have a factory camera installed. anyways here are some pictures of the garbage that I removed from my truck today. BTW my truck still has less than 500 miles on it because I take a train to work everyday so this is my weekend toy.

I'd be back up at that dealership in a heartbeat. Unacceptable.

Yes that is electrical tape holding the wires together on my new truck and this is how the dealership installed their crappy aftermarket backup camera in my truck. Not happy at all right now with the dealership and especially with the sales man that sold me the truck. I tried to call him on several occasions last week about the camera and he didn't answer his phone even after I called back once within a minute of missing a call from him. anyways I filed a negative review on the survey from Toyota and called him less than an hour ago to talk to him about this and he told me that there is nothing that he can do because I filed a negative review and if I had talked to him first he could have done something to make things right. when I finally got him on the phone he didn't let me talk and as soon as I tried to say something he said I gotta hang up and then just hung the phone up.

Unreal. If you have the paperwork you'll be fine. (have them throw in a lifetime warranty since they messed with your wiring)

    No No No.

You need to speak with management. IN PERSON. Make sure all partys involved in the "camera deal" are present so there is no more bull-shitting.

Don't even try to talk to the salesman. Go up to the dealership and tell them you need to see the sales manager, if not the owner. That salesman doesn't want to make things right, he wants to cover his own ass.

Call Ernie Boch directly, if he isn't jamming on his guitar. Why did you drive away with that piece of shit on your truck? I would have refused delivery saying "Factory" means what comes from the factory, not this cheap Chinese hunk of shit.

BTW, that thing is illegal, the word Massachusetts can't be covered, $40 fine for that. I'd use that in your argument as well.

The salesman is pissed because that his how he gets his bonus and the dealer gets more money when they get a good survey back, he can do something he just won't

$500+ for that cheapo 50 buck camera. They tried to pull a fast one on you. Good thing you caught it and if I were you I wouldnt let up till things were made right, and for free/ or discounted atleast ;)

Ernie boch and son suck. I wouldn't have driven off the lot with that, and definitely wouldn't have spent any time taking that crap apart.

The last two vehicles I bought were from there. Great place to get a deal under invoice, not so great with the add on shit apparently.

well it was a useless piece of crap so it came out today. didn't work at all if it was dark out because the license plate lights were pointed directly at the camera so the screen was whited out at night. worked great during the day but I am very picky about my cars and if something bothers me then I remove it like I did with the camera.

Weather you liked it or not you shouldn't have removed it.
You should have continued to get them on the phone or go directly to the dealership and ask for the manager.
A neg review is a flag to step up and correct. Not ignore.....

Now you have compromised your leverage by taking it out.
Seriously, you need to get your money back or have it resolved.
Call corporate and explain the situation. Worth a shot.
    I wish you luck.

Well I emailed the sales person as well as Ernie through their website and told them that I am not happy with the camera that was installed on my truck and asked that they send me an OEM camera that I can install myself in the tailgate handle like I was originally promised. I will patiently wait for a response from the dealership and I will post the final outcome on here.

I don't think that will happen as I think factory parts are more expensive.
That being said they really dropped the ball with you insisting on a factory backup system. So something needs to be done. No need of things like this..

Oh and BTW even with all the BS about the backup camera issue I still love my new Tacoma. I remember seeing the original Back to the Future when it first came out when I was a kid and wanted the black Toyota that was in the movie and now after all these years I finally have my dream truck so I am not going to let this issue bum me out. :D MY TRUCK IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a bump in the road. It will work out. A new vehicle is something to be proud of. Congrats BTW.

Who every decided that this was okay needs to get dick-punched immediately. I would be livid if this happened to me. What does your paper work/invoice say about the back-up camera? Does it state OEM back up camera system or part numbers?

Well looks like I am screwed on the whole backup camera and just paid $530 for a piece of crap camera. Not going to let this bum me out and look at it like a learning experience and remember to always do things myself if I want it done the correct way and to never buy accessories from dealers. When I signed the paperwork for the camera I was assured by the sales lady that sold the accessories for the truck that the camera that I was getting was exactly the same as an OEM camera but that the receipt said generic because the camera changed from 2013 to 2014 and they had to order the camera from the manufacturer directly because Toyota didn't sell them directly yet. anyways I put the part number in to Google and sure enough it comes up with that crap that they sold me and it only cost $150 online. F U Boch Toyota.
